I do not do as many miles as I used to on this bike and the Michelin CT was getting date old so I decided to grab a Cobra for the rear to match the front.   Quite a flickable ride on the old girl now and not notchy.   Am I getting old?

No; You’ve succumbed to engineering over what’s popular.

I noticed the cycle tire more flickable as well while cornering vs. the old car tire that was on my 98 as well.

If I did over 5000 miles per year on it I would go car tire but 2-3000 miles tops per cycle per year, if that,  no sense in a car tire IMO...

Well I have to say I am enjoying the bike more now.  My wife broke her fifth metatarsal and was in a foot walker boot until today. She can’t ride her Honda CTX700 for about another month but was very happy to jump on the pillion tonight and she said she noticed the ride was better and even thinks the old girl rides better than our DCT wing!   I think she was just happy to be out getting wind.

No, you're just re-discovering that it' s actually pretty effortless to fling these big old bikes through the curves...when the proper profile of rubber is meeting the pavement Wink

Yup, pretty much the same perspective here. Just not putting on the miles per year to really justify the car tire. Wife and I had a few years where we got to do some fairly epic trips and I was doing a lot of PGR missions so the miles added up quickly. Car tire was great for that kind of riding.

Got M/C tires on the bikes now. Do more in town riding than out on the highway particularly now with the virus thingy.
The handling has gone back to being a typical handling bike. Like you, if I was putting on 10k+ a year again, I'd consider going back to a car tire.

It always strikes me how much sportier my Standard seems from my Interstate. But really, both of them get thru the corners pretty well for a big old bike.
