Even a broken clock is right twice a day. This boondoggle is a disgrace and must be veto'ed; it's embarrassing it was voted on positively at all!

McConnell made the bill pass, after all, he is afraid of loosing his grip of the Senate due to the Georgia runoff election.
Interestingly enough, he didn't work so hard a few months before, when a rescue bill could have helped 45th's reelection campaign.

Until the people of this once great nation descend on DC en masse and inhabit the capital building until congress passes a bill mandating a line item veto, we will continue to be disappointed by the people we elect. Until we the people decide this is more important than our short term comfort, that our children’s and our grand children’ s future is what is a truly stake, this robbery of our treasure will continue. This is no less than a call to arms to impose the will of the people on those who are elected to serve us.

At least one TX congressman gets it. https://www.foxnews.com/politics/rep-chip-roy-gop-serves-omnibus-passes"Genuine question - what purpose does the @GOP serve?" he asked. "Other than a voice (but not consistently) for the pro-life, and a voice of opposition generally to Dems... what good is it? Massive spending? Open borders? Endless wars? Federal healthcare/education?" he tweeted.... he railed against both the bill and the legislative process behind it in a blistering statement -- calling it "legislative malpractice." It represents everything wrong with Washington and epitomizes the very swamp that the president supposedly ran against. Yes, it does, in spades.

And just how many pages was Obama Care which had to be passed before we knew what was in it?
If memory serves correctly, something like 33,000 pages, maybe more.

BREAKING NEWS: PRESIDENT TRUMP SENDS RELIEF BILL BACK TO CONGRESS, REFUSING TO SIGN UNLESS IT REMOVES WASTEFUL SPENDING AND INCREASES RELIEF CHECKS FROM $600 TO $2,000 PER PERSON
Which (again) begs the question.... how can you not love this man? That's a rhetorical question BTW.

There have been times I thought a line item veto would have or should have been allowed but, I'm more comfortable with a requirement for a balanced budget with the exception of time of war budgets. If, they have to maintain a balanced budget, some of this crap would never get included. Rams

Why in the name of sanity would congress pass a bill that gives illegals 3 times more money than citizens and that NONE OF THEM HAVE READ? This is worse than Obamacare.
The bill should be a few pages ONLY
If you cant say what you want to do in a relief bill in a few pages, it is full of lies, theft and graft
You can quote me on that Needs a hard veto and those including the republicans who passed it are now exposed for who and what they are

I agree with Oss on this, Most members of Congress have become totally ineffective and in fact work as agents against the best interests of the US as a whole. IF anyone else had been in the presidency I doubt we would have had a veto of this bill.
Even the fact that these items are in the bill and no one read it is indication of the true bent and failure of Congress to do their job and keep people safe healthy and promote policies that are good for Americans.
On top of all the handouts to foreign governments and other waste of taxpayer money, a provision in the 5,593 page bill allows the Department of Homeland Security and Labor Department to “increase the total number of aliens” hired under H-2B foreign visas.
I guess since most did not stand up against the election results whoever penned this bill feels very comfortable in proposing anything they wish for or lost over the last 4 years.
To me it seems to be a restoration of the policies that were in place in the last administration and a direction that will be taken in the event of an election loss.

correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t this bill actually the omnibus spending bill, with the emergency covid relief tacked on? Not that makes it any more valid. Adding the emergency stimulus to the omnibus bill is really just a trick that congress pulls to push the rest of the pork through.

Adding the emergency stimulus to the omnibus bill is really just a trick that congress pulls to push the rest of the pork through.Yes sir Romeo, a legislative trick that is old as Methuselah, and just as ugly. And I would also guess that the majority of Republicans that voted for it (without reading it, but with high paid professional staffs that told them what was in it) because they were afraid that if they voted against it, they would be summarily defeated in the next general election because it would be said they had no compassion for the people in their districts who would not get the free money in the covid relief part of the bill. And with additional obvious cowardice in that they assumed the president would help them out by vetoing it anyway, taking that heat off their shoulders, onto his. Which is essentially what has happened. And, I think it fair to give mainstream media a major assist in such decisions, since they can be depended upon (like clockwork) to take the hard left position that such politicians were heartless bastards who didn't care a bit about their constituency in need of the free money, and that media is cost-free highly effective advocacy for the left, that republicans can only counter with very expensive personal campaigning. So I suppose that getting reelected (again) becomes the primary motivation of the majority of all those in public service, and NOT the welfare and common good of the People and the Country. It is a very old and very tired aspect of our democratic republic that makes a benevolent dictatorship look more appealing all the time. Washington, July 21. — The most stunning figure in the 1,171-page federal budget is the cost of keeping a congressman in Washington — $275,000 a year.
Ten years ago, it was less than half that sum.
Overall, Congressional costs since 1953 have risen six times as fast as the rest of the federal budget-from $60,849,479 a decade ago to $147,594,000 for the 1963 fiscal year.
(from 2017) A quick look suggests that total legislative branch appropriations for FY14 is about $4.1 billion. This includes House and Senate member and staff salaries and benefits, Capitol Complex maintenance, staff and security (including the U.S. Capitol Police), the Library of Congress, the GAO, the CBO, the Government Printing Office. This comes to $7,476,635 each we taxpayers lay out for every member of Congress. Are they worth that kind of money?

Yeah sure blame Trump for voters not doing their part to drain the swamp. He couldn't do it by himself. What he did do is make us aware of how deep the corruption goes. Unfortunately all he got for his trouble was constant investigations with no evidence. If he does in fact veto this new worthless stimulus package for more money for us, that should prove to even the biggest TDS sufferer that he does in fact care about the American people.
