Like meathead and DDT, I am not a patch wearer but would be proud to have one that I could frame and hang up in the garage where he setup and worked on my Tourer a few years ago (before the current trailer).
It's hard to single out one soul over another, as you have mentioned, but the Valkyrie community wants to do something to pay tribute to this man and let his family know what he meant to the community.
I'll leave how it's done to those wiser than me.
RainMaker
Framing it is a great idea for non-patch wearers. I would even do that. Believe me, I understand the special sentiment toward BigBF. I good with doing the patch.

I’m not big on patches or vests. But, I’d be big on helping Bill’s family. Connie, if you are able to get this going, (I’m sure you aren’t busy with anything else), could you set it up for just a donation also ?
We've been hesitant to set up donations for specific members. Mainly because if we do it for one, others may feel slighted. In this instance, another member died on the same day, somehow it feels wrong to collect for one over another. That said, once I get the patches up, I may be able to set up something to kick in a little extra... I have to clear that with all the VRCC partners. While I'm willing to go with a patch of some kind, has anyone considered a Go Fund Me thing? I don't even know if it's "needed" and I understand the desire to have something to memorialize Bill, just putting it out there. I have no idea of how to set one up. Rams It was suggested to me on FB. However, the VRCC, per se, will not set that up for the reasons I gave in the previous response. There have been past occasions where funds or parts or whatever have been collected, but the VRCC did not coordinate those endeavors; rather, they were member coordinated. The VRCC staff members often contribute personally and we certainly don't restrict the use of our forums to promote such endeavors. Even the patch dances on the line of my comfort level, but I understand the sentiment and we have done patches for other members in the distant past. P.S. I don't think there is a serious financial need (I could be wrong, of course). His children are adults and I'm assuming he had life insurance (I could be wrong, of course). He's been in the same house for a very long time, I'm guessing it's paid off (I could be wrong, of course). I think you are probably right on all accounts. I’ve been known to put a few stickers on my bikes over the years. If it’s not adding a bunch more work, could those be added ? I’d be proud to carry one on each bike.

Go Fund Me takes a portion of the money donated. If the the family approves, perhaps just provide their address, any one who would care to could send a check.

A memorial patch and sticker for the big fella sounds like a great idea. I would be more than happy to purchase a couple of both.

It's nice that so many want to help out in any way we can.
I just read the post where Connie explained about the optics of helping out one and not another. I can understand that. However, This is BILL we're talking about. So, instead of saying we can't do for Bill because of the other brother or sister who passed, why not help both. We HAVE to do something for Bill, so this time around, the other person gets lifted up as well.
I propose that the charity for this year's Inzane be Bill's and the other person's families. VRCC 1st!

I agree Gary, that this is a bit different. Unfortunately, we committed to a brain injury foundation in Ohio. But, we will have several fund raising things going on for BigBF (posters, patches, shirts, etc), I'm working with oZ on some of these things. I'll talk to Carl and Lori about David Fette, they knew him much better than I.

If there is desire, when I return from Florida, I will reactivate the paypal account that I have used before when various members went down and also for the Ali fund That way the fund is totally separate from the Vrcc charity, which is a good thing IMHO and it will be empty by the time Inzane rolls around Ideally I would want it closed within 30 days of when I open it while it is fresh in everyone's mind and heart but the good thing about paypal is when you use friends and family option its free If someone can search what I did last time (serk) lol it would be helpful I know my email addy has changed as it is now evan@evanrogerslaw.com and I dont use the ossvalk account

If Bill or Dave have a Paypal account, if they are posted here, folks can donate as they see fit.

Assuming the families would know the passwords to be able to retrieve the funds. When Oss did it before, it worked well. I think that's the best plan.

Also, I will see if I can get Big BF's family to attend InZane for presentation (as we did with DDT and Ali reunioin). We won't charge any registration, but if y'all want to donate for hotel costs, that would be helpful. oZ and I are working on a couple of banners from Oldfishguy's picture (he has given permission to use and enhance. Fazer has generously offered to print two of them at no cost. One to display at InZane and raffle or auction off at the end; the other to have everyone sign and give to his family. Hopefully, we can present in person, donations and poster.
Some people have said they would like to purchase the banners, as well. We haven't looked into that yet.
I defer to Carl and Lori regarding Dave.
