My Temp. light comes on then goes off. Sometimes it just flickers ,sometimes stays on for 30 seconds. Radiator and overflow properly filled, fan works and not overheating. I read that a bad coolant indicator #38710-MZO-003 could cause this. Part is N/A. Any suggestions or alternative part that will work. Thanks.

Ignored mine for years till I sold the bike. As long as the fan operates correctly, don’t worry about it.

Rosie--I am going thru the same issue.  The indicator unit is no longer available, but there is an easy work around.  I found it here on the tech board.  Buy the temperature sensor that goes at the bottom of the radiator for the later model Valk.  It has a blade push-on terminal rather than the screw type for the 97-99 bikes so that will have to be changed.  You also need to jumper a couple of wires on the connectors.  It says which ones on the instructions.  Rather than buy a new one for $45, I bought a used sensor from Pinwall (on Ebay) for about $4.  If you can't find the page I am referring to, I will bring in the directions I printed and post them for you.  Here is a link to the Ebay page.

I believe that I am the one who wrote that article. It is not the thermostatic switch that is on the bottom of the radiator, that just turns the fan on and off. The sensor that needs to be changed to the later model is located on the thermostat housing.

My 99 has done it since I bought it in 2010. It only does it a few times
a year mostly while I am running 55 or so. When it does I pull in the
clutch at speed and cut it off then turn the key back on and let the
clutch out and 99 percent of the time it never comes back on.
A few months later it will flicker or come on so I do the same thing.
Ain't worth the trouble of fixing it.
If it ever gets the best of me I bookmarked indybobm's post
about 5 years ago so I will know how to fix it.

Let me give credit where credit is due. My article expanded upon a post from F6Dave many years ago. Thanks F6Dave.

I bought a cheap wiring harness from ebay that had the module attached, so far it is working properly.

Looking at Honda directline parts and cant find thermostat and thermostat housing. Also do you need to remove radiator to replace thermo switch by thermostat housing?

Wow, that was a long time ago! It was a frustrating problem. I thought I might have a bad thermostat at first, and removed it and placed it in a pot of boiling water on the stove to check the opening temperature, using a thermometer. I finally figured out that it was that stupid 'indicator unit' under the side cover and decided to get rid of it. Now you have no choice since the indicator unit is no longer made.
