Who names their team the St Peter's Peacocks?

I know peacocks and gamecocks are spirited fighting birds... not a bad team name.

But Peter's Peacocks takes balls.   Grin

I do pull for underdogs (once my team is out).

The underdog Wolverines played a superb game to beat the SEC tournament champion Volunteers, then could not get a ball through the hoop with the Wildcats all game long.  Nine big ten teams were picked for the NCAA tournament (more than any other conference), now all gone.

Rock Chalk Jayhawks !!! the only #1 seed still in the tournament. At this point, you can't take anyone for granted. St Peters is a Cinderella story for the ages !

Kind of makes one wonder who says that team is better and the other.   Looks like some were really overrated and somewhere very much underrated.   Maybe there are/were some teams out there that should have been invited instead of the teams that were there.

I don't care what the East / West Coast sports people think - the Big 12 is THE TOUGHEST COLLEGE BASKETBALL CONFERENCE IN THE COUNTRY . PERIOD, end of discussion. Every conference game is a battle / war for the ages, even from the teams that are in a "rebuilding" year.

I've never been a big basketball fan.  But I have followed some college ball the last few years (the pros never, they can all go spit).

What I have learned is that among the the many good teams, on any given day, anyone can win.  The variabilities of size, speed, defense, and teamwork make it so.  But the biggest variable of all is who can shoot the ball through the hoop consistently.  A team can still be great defensively and in great team play, but if the shots don't fall, they lose.

My Wolverines spent the last couple months winning one then losing one, over and over.  On their good days, they looked like they could beat anyone.  On their off days, they could lose to a third of the league.

St. Peter’s is a tiny school about an hour north of me. We did a tour there about 6 years ago with my daughter.

My wife and I have been following quietly the last couple games and were happy last night to hear they won, however in the morning news I see they broke out the BLM shirts for their post game celebration. For some reason they needed to turn a good thing into something else so we’re done.

I was rooting for them until last game, when they warmed up with the BLM shirts. I said thats it hope you get beat. It is just plain foolish. A catholic school to boot. I have been in a number of parishes in my life and politics never entered a sermon on sunday or during any church function. This is total BS. I will send them an email on this, and it will not be to say 3 Our Fathers  for there penance.
