I was watching the feed a few days back when a young bear got his butt kicked trying to steal a fish from a sow with cubs. I thought for sure he was a goner after hanging over the falls with the sow nearly ripping his snout off. But he seemed to come thru ok.

Many years ago, I and my two cousins..brothers, a year older and younger than myself used to get fussed at by my aunt...their mom. As a kid I'd spend sumers with them on the farm, as we three young innocents

got older our responsibilities became more involved, especially in the field and the milking parlor. From time to time, the mating ritual of various livestock took place and was difficult to overlook since it could happen anywhere and often interrupted our barnyard work. Their mom would fuss at us for watching, I guess fearful it would plant ideas in our heads...something already well entrenched since we were teenagers by then. Some of her reasoning was rather humorous when I look back on it but none of us wanted to get caught if it looked like we were gawking at it...hardly our preferred pasttime. Sometimes the animals were simply in the way and we got fussed at for interupting, a losing battle with my dear aunt.
As for we three guys growing up and spending many hours together, especially during the summer months, we had some very "interesting" adventures over the years. Dad was school superintendent & farmed me out in summer to help out other family members on their farms. Personally I think it was to keep me out of trouble in town...little did he know.
