There is a huge Betty Boop  with "American Rider" painted on the the front fender of the bike I just bought. Do you think it could be buffed out or I will just need to get the front fender repainted?

The fender will have to be repainted, it can't be buffed out.  I just had mine repainted due to a domino effect occured in my storage trailer----so sad to open the door to the trailer and find two bikes laying over  Cry!!!!

Has it been clearcoated over? What kind of paint was used for the artwork? Really need to know the details before anyone can give the real answer. I have heard of some grafix being removed with Easy-Off oven cleaner. Use the original formula. Anything could ruin the paint underneath, but, if your gonna have to have it repainted anyway, might as well try. Never know, might get the result your after. cooldude

I removed a hand painted graphic off of my front fender with contact brake cleaner, followed up with Honda polish, and it worked like a charm, and no ill effects.  Biggest thing is if it has been cleared over?

Just confirming that EasyOff Oven cleaner will remove grafix and pinstriping; Provided it wasn't clearcoated over it. Most people don't clearcoat so give it a try. If it doesn't work, you had to repaint anyway.

I used Easy off to remove a ton of pinstripe off my 85 Wing..... Only problem was that in some light you could see a shadow...became kinda "Ghost pinstripe", But it worked great and everything shined right back up with some Meguiers polish.....

I had some graphics re-done 3 or 4 years later and the pinstriper used easy off on a rag, followed by a water rinse from a spray bottle.  You'd never know it was there when he was done.

Don't let it sit on the paint, but give it a little time to work.  Might have to do two or more applications.

If it was clearcoated over then (as others said) this method won't work.

What's this.... misery loves company   coolsmiley.  So since your accident resulted in a repaint everyone else s should too? Grin Grin Grin   NOT.    As was said a few times, it depends on the paint, how it was applied and if it was clear coated.  I have seen airbrush paint removed without much issue, provided it was not clear coated over.  If it was left in the sun often, there could be some overall fading to areas outside the airbrush area, but I assume that might be preferable to the Betty Boop.....   Wink

Well, it didn't have any clear coat, so I gave it a shot. I tried some oven stuff, but I went to some brake cleaner on a rag. It wasn't too bad. I used some color restorer/wax when I got done.
Thanks for the tips guys.

Mequiers Color X Paint Restorer. It has a picture of a Cuda on the front of it. I got it at Autozone.

Looks great in the picture. Is this color restorer something you'd use regularly or is it hard on the clear?

I bought it to use on a bike that I was selling to get it to shine a little more lol. It seemed to work pretty good on faded black spot on the other bike. The bad thing is I spend all that time on the fender and a guy backed into it the next day..........
