interstate seat removal, help requested

1999 Interstate
I recently bought the bike and wanted to get an Ultimate seat for it, which I picked up 2nd hand this week.
I went to try it on the bike for a test fit, which went great but now I can't get it off!
I've tried everything I can think of and it won't move.
I've tried pushing down on it, sitting on it, bouncing a knee on it, all while turning the key, no good.
I removed both side covers looking for the cable, still connected, still moving, just not releasing.
I can't reach the latch itself with my fat fingers and my pliers are not able to get a good grip on the cable.
Does anyone have a trick or technique to help me, or if there's anyone in the Clear Lake area of Houston who has a clue how to get this thing off, I would certainly appreciate the assist.
I have read every post I could find on the subject, so far no progress.
Thanks in advance

There is a trick to apparently reach behind the center cover to pull the cable. Somewhere on here.
Or pull the center cover, which is supposed to be a bitch (without breaking the plastic).
Check this out.

Thanks for the suggestions folks, I finally got it off by removing side covers and using tools to trip the latch. Good to know there's help out there.
Now I'm going to change the latch to something that won't jam up again!

I've had to take mine off while turning the key, slam your knee into the back of the driver seat to force it rearwards. This has usually popped in both into and out of the latch/bracket.
