Is there any way to identify whether my fork springs are original or Progressive?
Also, if installing new Progressives, is anything other than the springs necessary?

Not being a smart aleck - if you go down the road and goose the throttle, let off, goose the throttle,
let off, a few times does it feel like you're riding a pogo stick? OEMs...

They do look different next to each other... I wish I remembered exactly... the OEM springs
are tighter wound on one end I think...

You'll want to have several bottles of new fluid.

You can measure the fluid level from the top of the fork tube (springs out):

  Right
    std/tourer: 5.3 inches
    Interstate: 5.4 inches

  Left
    std/tourer: 5.6 inches
    Interstate: 5.8 inches

There's a tool for the right side, I don't know any way around it (or a facsimile)...

You have to overcome the compression of the springs to get to where you can swap out the springs,
it is different on each side...

Check http://www.valkyrienorway.com/ for a PDF of the factory manual, and video of Dag
working on his forks...
