depends greatly upon how close to the top of the tank one fills it.
I always fill up sitting on the seat with the bike centered up, feet down (never on the stand). If the pump will feed slow, I get it up to the neck with the nozzle mostly out of the tank and a little gentle rocking side to side for burping air out (close to another third gallon). If it will not feed slow, I stop (before gas nuts).
If you are intent on figuring miles per tank, however you fill up, do it the same every time.
Resetting a tripmeter at every fill up is helpful. And reset at switch-to-reserve starts the countdown to empty. (time to be easy on the throttle and under 3K rpm's unless you know gas is close)
