...if I hear one more "expert" refer to a 5.56/.223 AR15 as a "High Powered Rifle" I'm going to pull out my beard!

Well, 2800 FPS from a 16 inch barrel isn't exactly low power.  A 20 inch barrel gets over 3000, and is the smoothest operating AR gas system.

But it's not a 30.06 either.

I don't think the shooter just up and did this on his own.  How does a 20 yo loser from an hour away from the site know this rooftop 150 yards from Trump, would be unoccupied, and how does he get into position with all the security unless he was"assisted".  With what has gone on with the weaponization of our government agencies, I can't believe the shooter acted on his own.  I believe he was recruited and given a pass, and the plan was to take him out after he shot Trump to silence him.  Hillary had people killed for a lot less.  She just recruited a lousy shot.

I have been listening to the information review on Newsmax and not much has changed.  Your comments above are worthy of note.

He was a 20 year old that was supposedly bullied in high school. But he was given awards at his graduation for math and science.

He worked as a dietary aid at a nursing home.

He had supposedly had explosives in his car.   I assume more than just a few sticks of dynamite but the article did not say.

So, how did this person plan this "event"?   How did he find the appropriate building?  Why did he do it?  What did he hope to gain?  What were the explosives for?

Lots of unanswered questions.  Lots.

And from what the talking heads have relayed to us Suicide was Not mentioned nor alluded to. So begs the question WHO Exactly put this chump in the position to Almost ASSASSINATE Former President Donald J. Trump? And I already KNOW to Not expect an answer in this lifetime. Again HAPPY GLAD D J T still alive!  cooldude RIDE SAFE.

I don't know any of this for sure, but here's an emotionally disturbed young man, who's apparently bought into the hate Trump mantra, he sees there will be a rally nearby, he does a Google earth satellite view of the area, sees some buildings and rooftops, arms up, drives over, and takes his shots.

He wants attention, and this will make him famous (for a day or two, since Trump survived, and he died).

Planning and running security against nut-jobs can be difficult.  Though security for Trump dropped the ball big time.   I hope it's a lot better going forward.  The Secret Service may be ambivalent about Trump, but they hate bad press and they're getting it in spades.

The dynamite tends to corroborate his mental imbalance.  He got ahold of it, but couldn't figure a way to use it, but brought it along anyway.

Just saw this news update regarding Corey Comparator, the 50 year old father who was shot at the Trump Rally:

From the link below:

According to Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro, Comperatore was shot and killed while attempting to shield his family from the gunfire.

“Corey was the very best of us,” Shapiro said. “Corey died a hero. Corey dove on his family to protect them last night. Corey was a girl dad. Corey was a firefighter. Corey went to church every Sunday. Corey loved his community.”

Corey’s sister, Dawn Comperatore Schafer, posted on Facebook that her brother just turned 50 years old and that he had so much more life to live.

Appears Corey was a genuine hero.....  angel May he rest in peace.  Prayers for Mr. Comperatore.

A guy I use to work with whom I keep in contact with is a TRUMP hater big time even as said from others comparing Trump to a mini HITLER.   He seems to think the 20 year old shooter was hired by Donald Trump to take the shot and miss.  I find that hard to believe, but is a slight possibility I guess to gain support and help Trump win, although the way Biden is acting age 82,  he may not remember his own name come election time?

Interesting video of bystanders pointing out the shooter BEFORE he shoots...

Your Trump hater acquaintance thinks Trump searched out and found a 20 year old to commit suicide by taking shots at former President at a public event with armed Leo’s and Secret Service? He’s a real thinker!

Trump didn't need to pull a stunt like this, which if he did could have gone the other way) to get elected, he had this one in the bag.

Hey,  I am not agreeing with the guy I know,  just saying what he thinks is all.  I think is a REAL stretch to think like that though.  I try to NOT bring up Trump to him since he gets irritated and text's me back long winded Trump hater comments back on the phone.  Very sad that an innocent 50 year old father and volunteer firefighter, etc. died over this.    Snipers should have taken out the threat BEFORE being fired upon since it sounds like they knew the sniper was there and did nothing prior to shots.

I never said you agreed, just pointing out he stupidity of your friends thoughts.  If I were you, I would be constantly bringing up Trump and his next term in office to this guy, just to keep him wound up.

I would be inclined to believe this was not a planned event if the SS had wounded the shooter before he got shots off, taken him into custody and made him spill the beans on Brandon, Barack, and Hillary.  Instead they allowed him to shoot and then killed him.  The plan would have been a success for them had dude been a better shot.

oh trust me, the few times I have brought up TRUMP to him he gets really angry and sends LONG winded texts back to me on how terrible he is.  He even went as far as saying Trump planned and did nothing on the whole COVID thing and he is the reason 1000's of Americans died due to COVID by not doing a darn thing.   He is in a wheelchair and has health issues, so try to not bring his name up too often to him he has enough issues to deal with.

On an even more practical note, I'm not sure I'd trust anyone to "merely" graze my ear at that distance (if that was indeed the plan).  Looks like a socially-isolated, mentally-ill, and obviously misguided loner.  Regardless of who prevails in November, I hope this isn't a harbinger of things to come.  The social fabric of this country appears to be unraveling . . . . .

On a more practical note, I have been writing checks for Trump for some years.

In return, I get 27 letters a week asking for more.  This really irritates me, but I know this shotgun begging for contributions works for him (and others).

I haven't written him a check for some time now, but for some reason now seem like a good time to do it again.   Smiley

I don't contribute to politicians, I vote for some of them.  I feel there is way too much money involved in elections and that there should be a cap on how much a candidate can spend on political adds.  I would even support endorsed candidates each being given a set amount of tax payer dollars to finance their campaign, no more donations or cash laundering operations.

LOL!  I just noticed in a clip they've been showing of the assassination attempt that one of the female SS agents threw Donald Trump's shoe (and looked like his sock) off the platform.  I wonder how she felt when the President said, "Let me get my shoe."

The appropriate use of those women would have been in the roof of the building the assassin used. They were both too small and too weak to actually protect Donald Trump

I haven't said anything before, but the people making an issue about him asking for his shoes are driving me crazy.  It was reportedly about 100 degrees out.  Did they want him to burn his damn feet off?

And yeah, the man had just had a bullet pierce his head, nearly died, I think he's allowed a little confusion and wanting his shoes (That evidently the agents slammed him to the ground so hard it knocked his shoes off (NOT knocking the agents for that!))...

---Edit to add---

And I won't even hold throwing the shoe against the agent. I'm sure in such a situation their training is to clear any unknown item away before moving the protectee, makes sense to clear something that obviously doesn't fit in away...

I believe that was an insole.  I doubt they hit him hard enough to knock his socks off.

Side note on having females as a SS protector.  You can't be a 5 foot person trying to protect a 6 foot person.  Just doesn't work.  Yes, there is a place for the shorter SS agents.  Just not on the podium.  Can't be a shield.  Just doesn't work.
