A couple of weekends ago my Son and I were going to ride so he went to get his out while I was getting ready and quickly came back inside and said we have a problem his wouldn't crank. He rides a 2003 Honda Magna 750c and in the 3 years he has owned it it has started as soon as you touch the start button but only buzzing this time. The guy he bought it from had put a new Chrome Pro Gel battery in it a week before he got it. I got my multi meter and the battery tested 12.6 volts at rest. Puzzled I had him turn the key on and it went down to 8 volts and it had a massive heart attack when he hit the start button. I jumped it off with my truck not running and it fired up instantly and was charging 14 volts at idle. Then I took the hold down strap off and saw the digital display on the top of the battery and it confirmed it had the big one from one weekend to the next. Got on the computer to look up the same Chrome Pro battery thinking it was some fancy expensive battery and it was $36.99 so I am guessing at least half of the cost must be for that fancy digital display. I run Yuasa's in my Valkyrie's but no time to wait so we put a Diehard in his Magna. I have never seen a battery die in one week if the charging system is working and no parasitic draw. I keep telling him whenever he is ready to ride a big boys bike I will let him take over my 2001 but he likes the Magna.

There's times I've thought that it would be nice to get a smaller bike (like - something in the 750-1100CC size). Something modern enough to have fuel injection.....

Never heard of Chrome Pro Gel AGM ever. There are alot off brands and some give decent performance and some don't.

Me either…

Different chemistries
Mutually exclusive- gel does not require an absorbing mat ; AGM  for lead acid batteries not Gel.
I personally would be very leery because it’s obviously a marketing ploy to throw out any buzzwords that came to mind, fishing for the ill-informed consumer. Surprised they didn’t claim “Lithium” as well

Remember: there are just a few battery makers, different companies slap their own labels on & charge whatever they want.  Roll Eyes

I run Yuasa batteries in both of my Valkyries and always had good service with them.
As for the Chrome Pro Gel battery I think they are junk.
Amazing how it died in just one week.

This is the exact battery that was in my Sons Magna. It must have had hair gel in it.   Grin

Old saying:”Chrome don’t get you home”.        Or, in your case….
“Chrome don’t get you away from home “ …

Yeah, I always had good service with Yuasa, too  cooldude
