After nearly 2 months of frigid, snow and ice, we got a full sun 60s. Everything thawed out, roads clean and no salt.
Got out early (still cold) and rolled the bike out, wiped it down, topped up my gas, added a few lbs to both tires. She gave me a hard time starting which never happens, but once I got gas in the carbs (mashed choke and throttle), she fired right up.
Still wore full leathers but no long johns needed. It always gets a bit colder out West at higher elevation in horse and farm country where I ride. Left at 11A, returned at 4:30P, couple hundred miles.
Man there were more bikes out than I usually ever see, and everyone happy, smiling, waving and thumbs up.
I stopped a couple times and kicked tires with small groups of other riders. Lots of older guys like me. We talked about this and decided the younger crowd doesn't ride, they stay indoors and play computer games.
One fellow got his bike knocked over by a backing car, and the driver would not get out or even roll down the window, and then took off (dickweed). He got a cell phone pic of the plate, called the cops, and then they discovered the store cameras had the whole thing on tape. While I'm talking with him, the cops called him back on the phone. His bike was scraped up a little, but fully rideable.
You know, trips to Walmart, Home Depot and the grocery stores are not a "day out". Yesterday was a wonderful day out of the house. I had such a good time I celebrated with 4 beers (which I do maybe twice a year), and got shitfaced like a teenager.
