Name is John, Bladedog alludes to a former part-time job (Cutco salesman!) Ride a sweet red/white 97 Standard I bought in Ft. Worth, TX 5 days before Christmas and rode it home to Cali, hadn't ridden or owned a motorcycle before that in over 25 years.  Am now a complete Valkoholic.  I ride mostly on weekends but do bring the Valk to work now and then (45-mile commute down the 101 along the coast... DAMN fine ride!) Profile pic is when I stopped near Palm Springs on the way back from TX.  Posted pic is basically the moment I saw the bike in bro-in-law's driveway and began drooling with lust.  (always had a thing for asian women....)

Steve L, Ashby Ma. I own a 98 Valkyrie standard (converted to Tourer) burgandy and creme, that I bought new in crate in 2001 for $9K. It now has 88K miles in it. In 2007 I got an itch and bought a 07 ElectraGlide Classic in blackcherry. it's a sweet ride too.

I love to ride and put on about 15 to 18K a year, here in New England. I'm in Mass on the NH border.

Previous rides include a 73 Kawasaki H1, a 76 Yamaha XS650OHC, a 82 Honda Nighthawk 750. All of which can be seen here. http://home.comcast.net/~srl1215/SteveNew-MotorcyclePage.htm

Hi Folks,

Arthur from Dublin, Ireland here, go by the handle of "Valkeire", Valk for Valkyrie and Eire is Gaelic for Ireland. Have my Interstate for 4 years, best bike I've ever had.

Poor bike get a lot of abuse, used every day, now suffering from salt on the roads this winter. Lives in the driveway, no shelter  for 365. Gets serviced and cleaned up every March/April.  Shocked

Looking forward to the Valk rallies in France and Finland this year. Then a week in the Swiss alps in Sept.

Some photos here,   http://picasaweb.google.com/articar

Ride safe,

OK... been lurking for a couple of years and signed up when we went to the new format.   Got back on bikes in 2004 after about 20 years raising kids, but now that's over with.  Started with a 98 Goldwing in 2004 and put about 20k on it in two years, but it just didn't fit right.  Then I saw a Valkyrie and life changed.  Sold the wing in 06 and purchased a 98 Tourer out of OK with only 5k miles on it (black - fastest).  Have 25K on it now, but that's still a toddler compared to most of yours, I know I'm such a wimp.  Love to cruise on it and have converted to the darkside as well.  Ridden all over CO with my brother and rode through Glacier National Park a couple of years ago.  Have not hit any formal Valk gatherings but love to ride it anyways.  Also have a 2006 Suzuki V-strom DL1000 for putting around and hitting the Arkansas twisties hard.  So that's the story. Cool

I have been a member since 1999 (#2506).  I used DaveW on the old board but decided to use my user name from other things, Slvrvalk1, when I transfered to the new board.  I attended InZane I, V, VI, and VIII and live in California.  My first Valk had custom silver-grey paint, hence the name Slvrvalk1.  I sold it an got an Interstate.  Here is my beautiful wife of 35 years and my black Valk.

My name is Anthony(Go by Willy) I live in Covington Louisiana and I ride a 1999 Tourer. Katrina destroyed my first Valkyrie and one day I caught myself saying those dreaded words "I use to ride". My brother-in-law rides Harleys and he always gives me grief for riding a Honda ( good natured)
but it never fails, when he actually see me and I'm on my bike he always stares and says how great the Valkyrie really is.  Grin

Hello .... My name is Kevin, I go by CISE (Canadian in Southern Exile - just to annoy my Alabama born and raised wife). I ride a '99 I/S I picked up and rode home from Abilene TX just before Thanksgiving '07 (used to have an '01 I/S.. but lost it due to financial situation a few yrs ago).

I tend to ride daily here in the Atlanta area (Dacula to Marietta).  I am trying to get my wife to ride with me more, but she has been recovering from variosu surgeries ... so it takes a while. I am planning on doing a ride with my brother and his kids this summer. Ride up to Ottawa Ontario and then to Newfoundland and then back here..... if I can stay gainfully employed that is.

Let's see .. oh yea .. this is my third bike. My first I bought in Toronto, Ontario in 84 ( a 78 G/L 1000 ) .. after 250,000 miles on it a Rooms to go truck backed up over it .... I bought the '01 I/S in 01 .... sold it also in '01 ... went back to the '78 for a year ... then waited until I could afford the '99 I/S ... so far I have only put 17K on it ... but once the wife can ride Smiley

Is that windshield still on your Interstate?

Shortly after buying my Valk I purchased a tinted windshield through the classifieds from a member in CA.

I'm wondering if it was you.

You may have bought a windshield from me.  I had a different Interstate before the black one.  It had a very dark short shield on it.  It was too dark for me given my height.  The guy I bought the bike from was much taller.  I sold the windshield through the classifieds.  The windshield in the picture is still on my current bike and it is a lighter tint.  I hope your windshield is working out for you.

I live in San Luis Obispo, CA.

Well.... awesome thread fellows.... I actually got a few of you to stick your heads out and say hello.

A few I knew, Dag and Marty for sure, even if Dag wears those crazy specs and Marty changed his name.

I would like to be one of the first to welcome you to the VRCC and would like to also encourage you all to participate more in our new modern web site that is optimized for sharing about your Ride, your Rides and yourself. Also, we have some awesome events coming up during 2009, so if you can scrape together a little gas money, come on down and press the flesh with the rest of us. There is always plenty of food, hugs and fun to go around at most any gathering of the VRCC. Check the valkyrieriders main page for event information (links at the bottom) and fall out for inspection soon. I just love to see all of those shiney Vakyries in one place, it's one of the most awesome sights that I know of anywhere.

Also, I'd like to congratulate and compliment you all in your choice of motorcycles. The Honda Valkyrie is still the best all around motorcycle on the road, at least in most everybody here's opinion anyway. Keep posting and Ride 'em Safely!

Steve Morgan here. I go by the handle of "Capt. Morgan" as that is my rank on a Fire dept that I work for. I'm on my 2nd Valk, as my 1st A 2000 Interstate met an untimely death due to unattentive 4 wheeler. Good news  was 1 I walked away from it, and also killed his 4 wheeler.

I now have a 1999 Interstate

My main intrest besides my Valk is camping and active involvement with the Patriot Guard Riders in Illinois and Indiana.

Yes, you sold me the one that's on my bike.

I wish that I'd known that when I met you at Inzane VIII so that I could've told you in person how much I like it.

It took me a little while to get used to the buffeting that I get from it.

But, it looked so good on the bike that I wasn't about to remove it.

My name is Mark and I go by the name "RainMaker".  As ride coordinator for the DFW chapter, I personally ended droughts by planning rides and causing the heavens to burst on those days.

I pilot a 2000 Blue/Silver I/S with a bit of chrome on it.  I am a rarity in that I bought it NEW from a dealer.  It has been through one major crash in 2001 where it slid down a highway for a bit but did not flip. All plastics were replaced from that crash as it barely stayed under the "totaled out" price.

By day, I am the owner of a Units Mobile Storage location in Arlington, TX and drive a 26' roll back truck to deliver mobile storage containers.  My corporation is named Silver Valk, Inc. and is registered in Texas.  I also own the domain silvervalk.com and use that for my email. I am currently VP of the DFW VRCC Chapter.

The Valk is my 5th motorcycle, all Hondas.  Started at 15 with a 1970 CL70 Street Scrambler.  Then got a basket case 1971 CL350 and rebuilt it.  Next was a 1972 CB500-4, then a 1981 Goldwing Interstate.  In 2000, after many years on that Goldwing, I became a Valkaholic with the 2000 Valkyrie Interstate.  I think it will be the last motorcycle I buy as there is nothing out there that is better than this motorcycle.

I don't post to the national board much - mostly stay on the Texas board.

60 miles West of Chicago!

« Reply #31 on: March 12, 2009, 04:14:29 PM »

I live about 40 miles due west of Chicago. I bought my 2001 Interstate in May of 2001 in Albuquerque, NM. I broke down on an 84 Wing and with what it was going to cost fix as well as fly to/from Chicago .... well they had this on the showroom floor so I figured why not. Told the salesman that I was heading back to Chicago and there was no way it was staying under 55. He said no problem .... no burnouts, no wheelies and vary the RPMs, 2 hours later I was running around 110 on I-40, 2 hours after that I was running 80 in 3rd gear ... well he did say to vary the RPMs. I now have over 83k miles and all but 4 were put on by me. Joined the club back in 2001, been to IZ6, IZ7 & IZ8; went to DOTs; CBR/HSRI in 07 & 08; the Fall Color Ride in 07 & 08; Cheaha in 08 and rode Talladega.

I have a BushTec trailer that I tow behind me on occasion that was a gift from a lady friend .... said the saddle bags wouldn't hold enough shoes ... go figure!

This is me on the dragon during DOTs

And of course .... somewhere in Utah

My first VRCC get together was Smokin' Joe's FCR back in 2007. Boy did I catch it then, I had been picking at Sweet Tea and Sugarbee for a month before. I'm glad they is 'peaceful' women (YEAH RIGHT!  tickedoff )

V and I are in Auburn GA, about 25 miles from Steamer so his craziness don't get to us too often.  V rides with me most every ride I go on.

I'm a resident troublemaker here according to Steamer and I've had a few pictures pulled by the ADMIN over the years but will try to be a good boy  angel  but am having a hard time  Evil The threat of getting kicked out has made me think and the best thing for me to do is stay out of the political posts.

I'm Greg, and I want to be a Valkaholic.

I rode while in the service and highsided hard. Decided I was to young and dumb to be on 2 wheels so I unloaded the Yamaha 360 Enduro. Fast forward to 2003 Got  a "free" bike-in box" CB500T, after putting quite a bit of work into it got fed up trying to find parts for a bike that was made for less than 2 years, 30 years ago. The inlaws ride and bought 2 new bikes, a 750 Aero for FIL and a 600 VLX for MIL. They asked me if I wanted the CB350 as it ran (mostly) and they wanted it out of their garage. I said no, until gas hit 250, then loaded it on the truck. I ran that for a season and got another basket case (cb550F) Put the 550 on the road for a bit then saw a 05 leftover 750 Aero in red (turns better) for a "get it off the floor" price. That turned riding into something to enjoy more than riding for parts. I have ridden the Aero for 2 seasons and am still happy with it. I am a bit bigger than the average bear so solo and short 2 up are fine, it is about the perfect bike for commuting. Superslab 2 up didnt give me warm fuzzies and I want to put a few more miles on.

That and I have had a jones for a Valk since they hit the market.

My Road King/Interstate + goodies fund got beat up last summer so I sold and set my sights on a standard or tourer if I could get the right number.

PTGB posted that he was going to sell his standard in a few months on HSN board and since he was well within my lookie area, I PM'd him.

So now I own a 97 Valk Standard with 2000 red (turns better) and black (faster) tins on it due to the fact that PTGB traded tins with a person who wanted his extra fuel tank. Ok by me, I got the faster one that will turm better now.   cooldude It became legal yesterday when I took it to the inspection station at sub 30 deg temp.

I have a friend who said he wants to buy the Aero, however the wife has been riding the 350 and while it is OK, it is well past legal drinking age and I would rather see her on the Aero. She doesnt like riding behind, she likes riding her own. It is up to her, unless I see a check before she makes up her mind.  Wink

Hey all, My name is John Whistler and I live in North Newton, Ks. I bought a 2001 Standard blue and white last June, after a 20+ hiatus from riding. Raising kids and live in general. Had a itch for a Valkyrie when they first hit the market, then the neighbor bought one and let me drool on it, I was sold. Finally got one last year. I am a RR Engineer for Union Pacific and currently a state certified EMT, hence Engemt. Just moved from central Ks. where I was very active on the volunteer ambulance service and fire department. Now I just RR 24/7. I love my Valk and am looking forward to meeting everyone at InZane this year!

the Delphi board. I went by AceRider 7 or something like that because I started out on the shadowrider forum with Delphi. You used to post lines form some of my favorite old tunes at or near the bottom of your posts over on the Delphi board. Correct?

Yeah, I used to go the the Delphi board a lot. Not so much anymore.. sometimes.

Jay B here. Rode everything I could get my hands on before and during my 20 years in the Army. Divorce ended my riding days for a few years till I bought a 1981 Suzuki GS 850 in 1999. Rode that for a year to get used to 2 wheels again and once money was right again I started looking for something a bit more comfortable for longer trips. A buddy suggested a Wing and I checked a couple out. While looking one over one day a friend of the seller showed up on an I/S and I was in love. (with the I/S not the rider) I found the old site and set out to find out everything I could about this great bike. I found a scratched and dented one here in the classifieds and bought it. New turn signals front and rear, new rear fender (bought from a member here) new tail/brake light assembly and I was on the ride of a lifetime.  The serial number says its a Standard but the bike had Tourer windshield and bags. Since those were a little messed up when I bought it I replaced them with an HD fairing and National Cycle Bags.  An Ultimate seat has kept me ridin in style for about 25,000 miles now.
