Not sure how to inbed a utube video but here is the link

Byron B-29 Bomberpowered by Aeva

Anyway, this is about an RC B29 made by a company called Byron Originals in Ida Grove Iowa. They don't make RC aircraft anymore since Byron Godberson died.
The company at the time even blended and sold their own fuel.

The B29, as you will hear on the video, weighed in at a takeoff wgt. of 400 lbs, had a wing span of 29 feet and a length of 20 feet.

In the company's heyday they sponsored a huge RC airshow. Flying superman, lawnmowers, RC parachute guys, even had the Blue Angels one year. Thiis was all held in Byrons back yard. Now Byron's back yard was pretty big as there was the 300' concrete RC runway, enough room for the 5000 people there for the show, 2-1/5 scale Aircraft carriers and the "ocean" with PT boats zipping around (for the show with awesome pyrotechnics) PLUS all the pilots and there planes. Most being 1/5th scale, so these are really large, highly detailed RC aircraft.

Awesome show. B29 was an awesome airplane.

Good times

The top vid is Mac Hodges B-29 and looks like it was taken at his place in Americus, GA. He has crashed and rebuilt the plane several times over the years. Here's a link to my you tube channel where we cover the Southeast Electric Flight Festival or SEFF the past couple of years and there are a couple more vids of the B-29 which Mac demonstrates for us every year.

I use to love flying RC aircraft!  Don’t do it anymore ‘cause the club I was a VP for decided to go AMA and that just created sooooo much more bureaucracy crap!

If you get into flying, I would strongly suggest getting a computer programmed flight simulator!  That’ll make it much easier.

Thats incredible!!  I wonder if a real B-29 ever rolled 360 or 180 for that matter?  But then, I guss if you roll 180 you would have to finish before you land wouldn't ya....   Cheesy

I think I should have no other mortal wants, if I could always have plenty of music. It seems to infuse strength into my limbs and ideas into my brain. Life seems to go on without effort, when I am filled with music.

Not necessarily.  You could dive into a half loop out of the inverted flight.

Long ago there was a story of a pilot who proved a B-29 was capable of a slow roll.  Supposedly there was a lot of cleanup required after he successfully executed the maneuver.   Grin

Alph, the great thing about lectrics and the new technology with the radios is that you can fly most anywhere and not have to worry about shooting other people down.

I still fly on 72 because so few people use that technology now. The battery technology advances are incredible and there are a lot of great flying plug and fly planes out there. I have an AMA parkflyers license, the liability coverage is there, it's cheap, and if I go to an AMA sanctioned event I can fly if I want to.
