I just mounted a CB radio on my 99 Tourer. I´m getting significant interference, sounds like an ignition, spark-gap type. Antenna is properly grounded. I have a choke on the power leads (in fact the noise doesn´t change with an external power source). I installed new plugs, no change. Where next to look?

I'm not only clueless about this kind of stuff (electricity is magic as far as I'm concerned) but
I don't have a CB either...

With that out of the way... I think there's filters in the OEM plug wires... have the plug
wires on your bike been changed out for "cool looking yellow ones" or whatever?...

Here's what I was remembering...

I wonder what was supposed to take care of ignition whine on OEM Tourer
Clarion CBs? Maybe therein lies the answer for the OP.

If it is a whine it is from the alternator and a choke in the power line will usually fix it.  If it is spark plug ignition noise.... that usually comes in through the antenna.  It sometimes can be fixed by either using resistor spark plugs and or plug wires (pretty sure Valk. spark plugs and wires are of the proper type to reduce intterfernce already).  Might be hard to fix on a Valkyrie. Make sure the coils are properly grounded and that there is no corrosion where they are mounted. Some of the better CB radios have a NB (noise blanker) switch which may help.

Hope this helps
