I looked at the ShopTalk at the plug wire conversion. I was wondering if anyone has used other brands with good success. Not interested in flashing sparkly wires but good functioning wires.

If you're really interested in "good functioning wires" you should stay with OEM.

The ignition electronics are subject to failure with ill applied aftermarket substitutes. You might could save a few bucks with some parts but then lunch the whole system.

check out www.magnecor.com  for great info.
I use moroso wires in yellow, closest design to the magnecor.
OEM wires are solid core wires with a resistor in the plug cap. the resistor is what can fail over yrs and high mileage.without the resistor the metal core will fail much sooner.

When I did my conversion, I used solid wire core also...same as OEM. And the particular wires I used are 7mm, again same as OEM. Larger sizes can be used but they have to be trimmed at the coil to fit, and more difficult to get through the boot if you want to use the OEM boot.

I use the MAGNECOR with the oem boots and custom ends. The wire is the correct resistance to keep in specs, its a spiral wound wire. The oem wires have a resistor in them which does go bad or just plain gets water in it and corrodes. If you use solid core wires there needs to be a resistor in them, some companies make resistor ends that will work too.
