We're gonna make a run to Lake charles La. today. We should be at Steamboat Bills about 6pm to eat and then run to the Market basket on nelson road to pick up 20 lbs. frozen boudain before 8 pm. Anybody in that area we would be glad to meet ya at Bill's for grub and fellowship.  Smiley

Is this REAL Boudain Noir or just a close approximation?

Same stuff that served at Hot glues BBQ the GOTF. JP(Hardsix) turned us on to this stuff several years ago. We make a run a couple times a year to stock up. Smiley

BOUDIN,  It's the real stuff from the Market Basket rated A+ on the Boudin Link
http://boudinlink.com/Market_Basket/M_Basket.html
the gal behind the counter said they make 1300 pounds per day.

We brought back 40 pounds on the plane back to MSP from GOTF12, YEP it did fly back to MSP in first class. we hope to make another Boudin run sometime this summer.  T.P.

That looks like some top notch Boudin Blanc, maybe I'll get to try some at the next GOTF. What I am trying to find is good quality Boudin Noir or Boudin Rouge, true blood sausage is hard to find.

The only time I've had blood boudain is when it is home made. Haven't ever been able to buy it in the store. Maybe somewhere in deep Cajun Country you might find some. Sure would like to know where.
Good luck.

The Red Boudin can be found but you're going to have to go to a town like Lutcher to find it.  That's the last place I found it when I had Louisiana as a territory.  I really didn't find it much different in taste to the White Boudin.

Well we got back in about 10:30 pm last night. Full bellys thanks to Steamboat Bill's and full insulated bag on trunk with 20lbs. of the good stuff and a couple of lbs. tasso meat for some red beans to be made at later  dater 250 miles total, in alittle over 6 hours. It was a good fathers day ride except for the heat. Getting on the road coming back at about 8:30pm  it was a lot cooler  on the return trip.Next time alittle more planning and maybe we can get a group together. cooldude

i ve been looking for boudain noir , or red boudain or blood sausage for a while now. no luck in H town. fiesta market sold it a few years back under the spanish name of cerilla (from argentina).
boudain rouge is old type people in L A use to make before they switched to rice.i hope to find an exact recipe soon and make some.
the pig blood is available at the viet hoa market.I remember as a kid watching a neighbor behead a chicken ,collect the blood and throw it in a skillet with bread , onions and herbs to make boudain noir, can still smell it---- Smiley
Big John sport bar on wilcrest in H town  as a blood puding breakfast on saturday its agood place to watch any Rugby game you please! cooldude
