Just did the same thing over the winter. Might sound simple, but check the length of your fuel line. Mine was a tad long and kinked causing fuel starvation. Stranded on the side of the road about 40 miles from home (yes, it took that long to manifest itself).
A very nice rider (on a Harley, not that that makes a difference) stopped and ran home and got tools. Took the tank off, cut about 1/2" off the line. It was then just long enough, almost too short. It got me home though.
I added a redeye fuel-line disconnect kit... all works well now.
Here's hoping it's something that simple.

I too had to remove about 3/8" after seeing kinking. I was never stranded but could have been. I didn't end up using the redeye disconnect kit and it's not too bad getting to the fuel line with the Pingle.
