When I turn on the cable TeeVee at a motel, I don't care what black and white John Wayne movie
comes on, just as long as there's one on there somewhere  Wink

Does anyone have a picture I have seen of the Duke riding a motorcycle (I think a Triumph) with the caption, 'I ride an Iron Horse'.

I found the picture without the caption.  Guess someone added that to it.  It was the first picture shown of him on a Honda.

like all of em True Git is a real good one

I have an autographed picture of the duke in my office that I got from PARIS for guessing one of his car questions maybe 5 years ago that is one of my favorite pics

PARIS if you are out there anywhere thanks again

What was the one where he has a son with a german rifle and scope who hides in a bell tower to shoot some bad guys?  Wayne I am pretty sure gets shot but not  fatally of course  Maybe his grandson or wife was kidnapped to start the pic

Fort Apache,

About 10 years ago I was out and struck up a conversation  with this old guy and found out that he was Apache. Chiricahua or Mescalero, I forget, but we were talking about the John Wayne westerns, and found out that both our favorites were the John Ford trilogy, Ft Apache, She Wore a Yellow Ribbon and Rio Grande. His favorite line was where some one mentions that they saw some indians as they were heading toward the fort and John Wayne replied,  "Lieutenant, if you saw them, they weren't Apache".

I'm partial to most all of them but his last movie "The Shootist" I think was the best.
Many of the name movie stars wanted a part in his last movie because they knew he wasn't going to be around much longer.  Some of them worked for nothing in the movie.  I especially liked the attention to detail like carrying only 5 rounds in the cylinder of a Colt Peacemaker for safety.  Not many non shooters knew that.  A lot of effort was put into developing the characters and the Duke's acting was the best, especially with Lauren Bacall.

HHHhHHHHmmmm favorite John Wayne movie.  I'd have to give that some thought.  Oh yea, I know which one is my favorite.  Any of them that had John Wayne in them.

True Grit is one I love, but that would be becaue he is riding a horse I helped train.

We have been watching several of them lately and I love the ones with him and Maureen O'Hara.  Very good together.

The Cowboys is ALWAYS a favorite.  Can you imagine being a young boy and playing cowboys in a movie with "The Duke"?  WOW they must have had soooooooooo much fun.

Anyway, If John Wayne is in the movie it would be my favorite.

Red River

If you've never seen it check it out.  John Wayne at his finest.

The Man Who Shot Liberty Valence......John Wayne, Lee Marvin, Jimmy Stewart, Vera Miles

The scene between Wayne and Marvin in the cantina is amazing!

I like many of the movies of the 20's and 30's where John shows what he is made of jumping off of buckboard wagons in motion, hiting the ground full of rocks and then sliding another 20 feet or so and then getting up and acting like nothing happened. Too many realy good movies to single one or two out.

Mine is The Quiet Man.  I especially love where the woman hands him a stick and says here's a stick to beat the lovely lady with.  I almost fall out of my chair laughing every time.  If I didn't have to go help a buddy wrench on his Valk, I would have stayed in my recliner watching John Wayne Day on AMC last weekend.

The Green Berets.  I think John could have really won that one.  The old black and whites  with John "The Singing Cowboy" didn't work for me.  When he quit singing, he's the best.

Stagecoach...directed by John Ford.  One of the best movies ever made!  Playing "Ringo Kid" may have been the Duke's best role because it put him on the map.  It took another 30 years of honing his craft before he ever won an Oscar...for True Grit's Rooster Cogburn.

Before Stagecoach, John Wayne had been in 70 movies...70...!  Can you imagine today's actors having that kind of experience before being "discovered"?  These kids nowadays are pretty much props that eat.  In and out of rehab and thrown to the wolves before they ever learn how to act.  Pretty sad really.
