I can't get anyone to go with me Sunday to look at a Valk for sale, so I thought I'd bolt one of these to my trailer and take it along in case I buy the bike.

Has anyone used one of these and will it do the job if I cinch the bike down good and tight?

I have one mounted in the garage that I park in everyday. Several friends have them in their trailers and use them while transporting their off brand bikes. I mounted the pivet bolt in the center hole seems to hold valk better than the lower hole. cooldude

Any of those will work so long as they are adjusted correctly.

When you strap the bike down, put 2 straps on the front of the bike, preferably on the frame, not on the trees or handlebars pulling forward, and 2 on the rear, on the frame pulling to the rear.

Take off, and about 5 miles down the road give the straps another notch on the ratchet.     Once you have the bike secure, the bike and trailer should move as one unit.     Grab the bike and rattle the trailer.    If the bike has any movement in it the trailer does not follow, you are not set on the straps.

When I trailer, I use the lower engine guards and the rear saddlebag braces.

Follow the red strap on the front and the black one on the rear.    You should figure out what I'm referring to.

This is a better shot at the front anchor points.

This is a good shot of the rear.

If I could have gotten someone to go with me, I was going to RIDE Grin the Valk back home and let them drive my truck.

For the extra $20... I would feel more comfortable with this one:

http://www.harborfreight.com/motorcycle-stand-wheel-chock-97841.html

I have one in my trailer and it just hauled a big Yamaha (not mine) all over out west with nary a problem. It is a little beefier then the one you cite and, I think, much more stable. I also have a Condor chock which is big $$$ and this Harbor Freight one that I am talking about is pretty comparable to the Condor.

Also, I think, someone just posted a Harbor Freight coupon link here on the board... that will knock the price down to at or near the smaller one.

I have one of HF`s . I mounted on a 2 x 8  3/4 plywood and hinged in the middle so it can be folded up to stand in a corner out of the way. Works great except I have a hard getting the Jade Lady OFF . Got short legs.  Sad

Its in Trussville, Alabama, a little NE of Birmingham.

I'm planning on being there early Sunday afternoon. The fellow selling it also has a Magna and we will be going for a test ride - him on the Magna and me on his Valk. If I like the bike, it comes home with me, one way or another.

I believe this chock will not hold the width on out Valks front tires.I have two of the others, one for the trailer, only used it when I bought a wrecked Valk. and one in the garage they work good.Got them for $26.95 on sale

Most certainty does hold the front wheel... had my Interstate in it on three or four occasions in my enclosed trailer for winter transport to various locations.

Bama Red,

My girl friend can't get off Monday (big wigs from out of state coming in), so it looks like you and I are the only two to be involved... It appears to me that we need to meet-up in Fayetteville by Sunday morning and go to Trussville together. I can ride up Saturday, get a room, then meet you for breakfast and depart from there... Do you have any suggestions on motels? I'd really appreciate it if you know of one that has a lounge or one close by... Sat'dy night, ya know... gotta unhold one of the many traditions some of us religously observe! If you have a better plan, please let me know... I'm very flexible here, so fire away...

Sorry ,I stand corrected. I recalled there being a problem with he model you referred to. But after researching it a bit it looks like it was only a problem if you have the Avons on your bike.http://www.valkyrieforum.com/bbs/index.php/topic,2605.0.html Would not have wanted Bama Red to find out he had bought something that didn't work that is also why I stated " I believed it would not work,"

Chip,

Hope you didn't take my comment as snide... not intended as such. I figure these Chinese made HF products probably don't have the best quality control or the front tires don't. I have Avon Cobras on my I/S and they fit in the chock. It was a bit more difficult to pull it out of the HF chock than it is out of the Condor, but I attributed it to the trailer possibly being angled downward (to the front) slighty, or lack of muscle Cheesy  ... one of the two.  cooldude

Sorry, man!! Been away from the computer since yesterday morning! If you'd still like to come up, you'd be more than welcome!! just fixing to head out for our family Thanksgiving (has to be today - long story - don't ask) down in Gurley, Alabama. Won't be back at the computer till 'bout 10 PM or so this evening. Feel free to call me at (two five six) seven eight three - one four one three.

If I've gotten back with you too late, I understand - I've got the HF chock mounted in the trailer and it is ready to go if I go solo.

Again, thanks, man and sorry it took so long to get back to you.

The one I have wasn't wide enough for my front rotors, I had to modify it.  Other wise it is oK.  Hoser

I have two of those, once I strapped by bikes down i didn't like the way the front tire was pinched in the bracket, didn't use it for trailer but in the garage ok.  Spent the extra 20$ and got the other model from HF, works great!!
