OK, 5 so far this week. Does Sunday count for this week or next? I never have a big grin when I'm walking out of work headed to the car...

Well sure it does. It looks like I'll be 6for6 this week myself.

Today is a work day for me, again. After a summer studying in PA, I'm safely back in NC and trying to settle back into the routine. I got out of bed this morning, put on my grown up slacks which I dread, and ate a quick breakfast. Then off to work. I'm just tying up loose ends and preparing for the fall. It really starts tomorrow. But I'm at work, and I'm running around a bit on the Valk.

So I'm back in the ride to work thread. Woot!

Rode 3 out of 5 last week with one morning coming in for an emergency telecom outage at 3:30 a.m.!!!

Rode today and it was a nice ride in...  but the ride home is said to be at 100 deg F...  In slacks and a button down shirt.

I have driven my cage 4 times since June 1.  And only 1 of those has been to work.  The others have all been for driving the kid somewhere.

I rode to work. Nice cool air as the sun came up. It feels good to be heading back to work. I'm glad the heat is breaking a little. Mid 80s and humid today for a high. It was in the upper 60s this morning. Nice. Threatening showers but that's okay. I'll be fine.
I'm happy to be back at work today.

Been riding the valk everyday for a while now since the ST sits in the garage waiting for an alternator transplant.
yes its been hot in H town at 4 pm on the hiways, but this year for some reason it does not bother me as much as in the past.
I did wear the soaker vest one afternoon to see ,very succesful, just damp it worked great.
on a side note the dogs haven t shed too much this year, could it anounce a cold winter? tickedoff uglystupid2 Grin

I'm just happy to be at work, especially at a job where I can ride my Valk. Must have rained this morning before I crawled out of bed. The house was dripping into the yard. But so far I've ridden into work, taken care of things, taken a break to ride some more, and came back to work.

Yup. I'm having a happy day. It's good to be back at work. What could be better!

What's better is when I have to ride a couple hundred miles for work, get paid my hourly wage to ride PLUS $.47/mile.

That's the BEST day there is.  Especially when it's nice out.

I think I am 58 or 59 of the last 60 commutes on the bike.  This has been a GREAT summer.  Other than the 95F and humid.  Fat red-haired guys don't like that much.  It was 53F this AM.  I decided NOT to wear the leather jacket and instead a sweatshirt and my vest.  It was a little too cool.  But, I have coffee now, and things are getting rolling...

Ride safe ya'll.

I rode the girl's bike today.

It was a little brisk at sixty degrees for the mesh jacket, but it was a nice ride both ways.

So did I, Willow, and I rode it to work twice! Well, once to my real job, then on to Boston's North End where we walked around honking  on a saxophone for three hours, just a prelude to Sunday where this goes on from noon till 10. Can't believe I still get a smile on my face doing this, must be nuts! Somebody's got to ride the girl's bike, nice to have company doing it!

I had an early morning meeting this morning a the local college. So, I decided to ride the Fat Lady! After all the rain we had in Connecticut this week, it was GREAT!! cooldude

The air was crisp, and still cool, with low humidity and the Fat Lady LOVED it. Times like these she almost feels like she is on steroids. The roads there are nice and curvy through the Northeastern CT countryside.

Funny thing though. Even though I left home early, the way there seemed a lot longer today, and I actually got to the meeting 15 minutes late. I have no idea how that happened! Wink cooldude Cool

I had plenty of time to take the long way to work so I did.  Work went well. My wife was asleep on the couch when I called to tell her I was heading home. I figured she wouldn't remember when I called, so I took the long way home too. I found some fun curvy little roads. It was a good first week back.

I've been pretty lax about posting to this thread...or any thread...lately.  With my new job, I don't get as much time to cruise the boards.  So I just scan most of the threads and don't post much.  But I have been riding to work pretty much.  I was 5 for 5 last week.  It makes the longer commute alot more interesting.  And since I have to get up so much earlier, it definitely helps wake me up in the morning.  cooldude  Taking this new job I was a little worried about the commute since I have to drive into Pittsburgh.  My office is over on the north side between Heinz field and PNC park.  But with 3 months in, I'm not finding it too bad.  I have secure (there are security guards, at least) parking right outside.  And I haven't had any problems.  And really, traffic hasn't been too bad most days.  There have been a couple where there was a wreck or something where it was backed up a bit.  But really, on any normal day, it's not bad.  I actually enjoy that time...about 40-45 minutes ride for 26 miles.  And the good thing is that I'm liking the new job.  So I'm pretty happy with that so far at least.  The only negative has been that I haven't been able to take any vacation this summer.  They gave me 5 "admin days" that I could take.  But they only want me to take them one at a time because it hits the overhead too hard if I were to take a whole week. I used one of those for the Whiskey Run.  And I just got 5 more "personal days" that I can start taking.  I actually need to use them up by the end of the year because they don't let us carry them over.  But now that summer's over and the kids are starting school, it will be tough to take any vacations.  And then, after 6 months, I'll get a week  of actual "vacation" time, at which time I'll start accruing days at the normal rate.  Those, we can carry over.  But I am taking this Friday off and the wife and I are taking a bike ride  for labor day weekend.  We're heading out to the Allentown, PA area (about 300 miles) to visit a friend of mine that lives out there.  Going to the dirt modified races Saturday...and pretty much whatever the wife wants the rest of the time.  I'm really looking forward to it.  Lord knows, I could use the R&R.
