***THIS IS A VERY OLD THREAD! I NECRO'ED IT JUST TO REPLY TO A COMMENT WILLOW MADE MANY YEARS AGO***

I've already posted this over on the Texas board a while back -
http://www.valkyrieforum.com/bbs/index.php/topic,23556.0.html
and really hate to brag, but..... I've got 3 new riding buddies as of Friday, June 17th...
They weren't supposed to be here until August 14th, or at least July, but something came up and they needed to make an even earlier appearance. (31 weeks, 5 days)

Kaelynn Elizabeth Ecton
3 pounds, 10.2 ounces
16 1/4 inches

Brian Keith Ecton II
4 pounds, 1.6 ounces
16 1/2 inches

Blake Dale Ecton
2 pounds, 15 ounces
16 inches

I was having a little pity party about spending Father's Day in the NICU, but then I walked by the "Tree of Remembrance" memorial to those that didn't make it out of the NICU they have by the elevators, and smacked me into realizing just how lucky I am, and how well off we've got it.

Oh, and happy Father's Day to all the other fathers out there too!!!

Serk,

Wow, three!!  I truly, truly hope all goes well.  Those pictures bring back some memories……. (sadly not good either)

I don’t know what to say really, I just hope all turns out well.  One thing, touch.  Touch them often.  Let them feel you.  The next couple months are the hardest, I hope they grow and get stronger.

Well woth a bragging post!
Are they posted in birth order?  The girl stands a bit of a chance if she's the oldest!
Little Blake is doing a great Mr. Magoo impression!  Fortunately he'll outgrow that!

How's their mom doing? (At least she got out of being pregnant all summer!)

Yeah, they're in birth order, she was first. The other thing she has going for her is an 8, almost 9, year older big sister to help protect her.

This morning their CPAPS came off, for a while at least, to see how they do on their own with the breathing. Side benefit is that means, if they can stay off the CPAP for a few hours, we'll finally be able to hold them... Woot!

Thanks again for the kind thoughts, wishes, prayers, etc!!!

Brief update:

(Cross posting to Texas board and here)

All three have been off their CPAPs now for 24 hours (Which is a very good thing).

Which, a side effect of that was that their faces aren't totally covered now, and mommy was able to finally hold her babies.

And, a side effect of THAT was that daddy was finally able to get some pictures of their faces! Or, at least 2 of them. (Mommy got tired before she could get to Blake, but she'll start with him today)

So, now let me properly introduce:

Kaelynn Elizabeth:

And Brian Keith II :

We go home from the hospital, which is going to be very difficult to do... Going home but leaving your babies there isn't a fun thing to do, but... things can always be worse...

More updates later... Thanks again for all the comments, warm thoughts, prayers, support, etc!

in·tan·gi·ble  [in-tan-juh-buhl]  –adjective
1. not tangible; incapable of being perceived by the sense of touch, as incorporeal or immaterial things; impalpable.

You have perhaps misused the term, methinks.

Also:
3.  (of an asset or benefit) Not constituting or represented by a physical object and of a value not precisely measurable

I think being able to sleep thru the night while the wife is breast feeding may very well fit the definition.

Not a physical thing, and its value not precisely measurable, yet sleep is very much a benefit or asset.

MP hit it pretty much on the head... There's also the:

not definite or clear to the mind: intangible arguments.

So, I stand by my usage of the word intangible in this situation... Smiley

And yeah... The OFFICIAL benefits of breast feeding are mother/baby bonding and greater health for the baby(babies) and easy calorie burn for the mom.

A "not definite or clear to the mind" benefit would be that the dad can't breast feed, so there's no need for the dad to wake up in the middle of the night for feedings.

Or, from an answers.com explanation:

Quote
Tangible Benefit: - It is a benefit to a person or organization which can be felt and touched. It is a real benefit which is straight forward. Ex: Saving money

Intangible Benefit: - It is an indirect benefit which can't be felt or touched. Ex: Saving time

Read more: http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_is_Tangible_Vs_Intangible_benefit#ixzz1Pvkv255E

From BusinessDictionary.com:

Quote
Subjective benefits that cannot be measured in monetary terms.

lol!  Being the veteran of several observed infancies (although never three concurrent), I found the benefits to which you allude measureable and not at all ""indefinite or unclear to the mind".

I would call them secondary benefits.

Nonetheless, congrats on the trips and on mama's nutirional selection.   Wink

Interestingly, I once read rather extensively on the subject of breast feeding fathers (on the supply end).  I found it a troubling subject at best.
