Some of you may have read my post, on the Tech Board, about what turned out to be a bad ICM (http://www.valkyrieforum.com/bbs/index.php/topic,28413.0.html)...

It kept my lady off the road, for a few weeks, until I was able to isolate the issue.

The reason for this post, is to thank those that replied to my original, and offered their combined wisdom and thoughts, and to single out a couple of VRCC members that went above and beyond, to help a brother out  cooldude

First, is John (Goose)...  My buddy Daryl, from XF6 Customs, was the first person I called looking for a spare ICM, to try on my sick bike.  Daryl is in the midst of moving his business to Alabama, and didn't have direct access to his spare parts.  He pointed me at John...  After a brief conversation, he dropped what he was doing, and overnighted the ICM to me, with the understanding that if it fixed my problem, I could keep using it until I had the chance to find one to buy for myself...  Never asked for money up front, and was more than happy to learn that his 'loaner' ICM, fixed my problem.  At the urging of John, Daryl, and many others on the boards, I decided that if I needed a new ICM, I might as well find me an Interstate ICM, for the lil' added 'punch' it gives a Standard Valk...

None (used) to be had...  PinWall had a few regular ICM's, but it wasn't lookin' good for finding an I/S ICM for anything less than $305 new...

On a whim, I shot an email to Big Mike Terry, of another club sponsor, 'Valkyrie Bling & More'.  cooldude

Mike didn't have an I/S ICM at his finger tips, but let me use a standard ICM, while he negotiated the purchase of a wrecked Interstate, with the promise of him sending me the I/S ICM, as soon as he had it.

The deal is done (I now have an I/S ICM, for less than half the cost of new)...  My '97 Standard now has the 'heart' of an Interstate, and lemme just say WOWZA  Shocked...  Quite a kick in the pants, from the start to the way it pulls on a 'roll on'...  I'm happy my lady is feeling much better now  Wink

A big thanks to 'Goose', 'Big Mike', and everyone else that helped me fix my sick Phat Gurl!

Doncha just hate a club like this that charges such crazy dues, and has so many self centered members?  Can't wait for InZane, so I can meet even more crazies that share the love for the best MC on the planet  Wink

+10,000  I've said this on 2 of my posts, one for a backrest, and for quieting up my cobra exhaust. Its amazing that a motorcycle can bring SO many different individuals together, ( most of which will never meet each other) that are willing to help out what is usually a complete stranger with nothing more than a motorcycle in common.   cooldude cooldude cooldude

Steve
I missed your post about your bike being sick. I could have helped you out I have a space ICM you could have used. I upgraded my Tourer a few years ago with a I/S ICM.
Now you need the I/S spring in your carbs and then you will fly.

The Interstate ICM has a different (more aggressive) power curve, especially at the low end, to compensate for the additional weight of the bike.  The Interstate springs are meant to provide a quicker throttle response.

By 'power curve', I would assume that to mean ignition timing advances at a different rate. My thoughts would be that timing would advance quicker and have less total degrees on top end. has any one checked this ?

That's my understanding except that I believe they match pretty closely at the top end.

Ditto Blackdog! I've been lucky mechanically so far but have learned a lot from here and still learning. These are the nicest people  and the best forum  I've been on bar none!

Here's a plug for Big Mike Terry @ Valkyrie Bling and More. I had a practically new Mustang seat I traded even for something he had I wanted- so no money exchanged. I received my stuff and was exactly as Mike described and was real busy at the time and got sidetracked so it was a few weeks before I sent him the seats. Did he call about the seats? I know I would have, but no he didn't. He trusted me by sending out the stuff not waiting on my seats. I don't guess I had to send the seats but I'm honest and try to treat people like I'd like to be treated.

Anyway just my $.02!  Wink
