There's never a good time to break down. Some times are better than others , your own Garage for one. But when your lined up with over 600 Bikes. And the Bike will not start. Not cool. Checked the obvious culprits. In record time, Kill switch, Battery connects (new battery), Fuse , Visable wiring. Gave the starter a few taps, it allmost started. A'm I looking at a starter. I new I should have cleaned those Brushes.

Are you sure it is the starter motor and not the start switch.

Experimenting a little will reveal the true reason for your dilemma!

Two things, first follow the link on the starter switch http://www.rattlebars.com/mtz/starter.html and then scroll down to the bottom for the starter relay. Since you said the battery is new, it is possible that it is bad. Angry You should check it out with a voltmeter and if it indicates a drop to below 11.5V when starting, its bad. It takes 13 volts to start the lady right. coolsmiley

It's easier to jump it off of a NON-running cage.

If it starts, go get another battery and charge this one like the instructions say.

I've seen more people fry batteries by not reading the instructions.
