Hello guys, anyone out there with a picture to share on the 97 u-joint? My neighbor built a custom ride out of a valk using the goldwing swing arm. He handed me the u-joint but wasn't sure if fit the valk or a goldwing. The valk swing arm went to another rider in our club who had worn out his splines. Any help is much appreciated before I buy it from him. Thanks,

brian....the u-joint from the valkyrie (years:  1997-2003), and the gold wing (years:  1988-2000) are the same part number.

I think it is also safe to say any GL1500 u-joint will work with any GL1500.

It's just the older GW GL1500 u-joints where superceded by the Valkyrie u-joint, as it was better made (stronger). So the question would be, would you want to use an older style GL1500 u-joint on your Valkyrie?

yes i would use an older style gold wing u-joint in my valkyrie......it would work, and it would be better than not ridding at all.  NOW if i were to put a valkyrie u-joint in my 1500 gold wing, then i would have to use the valkyrie u-joint rubber boot because the valk u-joint is slightly larger, and it would tear the gold wing boot up.

Not quite correct there, Goose. While it is true that the Valk U-joint is larger than the the pre-'97 Wings, an upgrade was made in '97 to the Wing to the drive chain which made it a twin to the Valkyrie. So, a '97+ Goldwing U-joint IS a Valkyrie U-joint. No change of boot required.
Given the difference in torque between the Wing and the Valk I'd have my name on the back-order list for a new U-joint or keep looking for a newer model used U-joint off a Wing. But, as you say, an older U-joint off a Wing in the interim is better that having a very expensive garage ornament.  Smiley

Thanks guys. I sure wish they stamped part ID numbers  on them. If this truly is the joint from his valk it's a 98 part.
