Finally got time to finish my homemade motorcycle work platform. Finished it this morning & immediately started the teardown of my '99.
4' x 8' made of 2x12's & 8' 4x4 posts. Ran 2x4 stringers underneath & 6 eye bolts for tiedown points. Welded up some 2x4 box tubing on 1/8" steel for the tire squeezer. Used 3/4 all thread for the squeezer. After performing the rear service on my '97 with a floor jack & sweating every second of it I vowed next time I would have a suitable SAFE & STURDY way to work. Copied some bike table tire clamp set ups I had seen online & in person & added some extra beef.

Did not want a lift table, I can still get up & down pretty well & it had to be wide enough to park a bike on when not in use. Mission accomplished!
I can detach the LH squeezer part to make more room if needed.
Anyways, needing new tires & I wanted to get a look at the condition of the rear splines as well. Bike has 49K & I did not know it's history. Turns out everything was in good shape, the p.o. treated her well!  cooldude
Car tire going bye-bye!

But first I wanted to pull the baffles out of the Cobras to wrap them up to make them quieter. Made a Redneck baffle puller out of an old screwdriver but still had to get nasty with the welder on one baffle!

Contrast how secure the '99 looks on the platform with the jackstands & steel bar holding it up compared to how my '97 looked last year doing the same job!

Busy day, got a lot done!  Cool

Thank ya, Joe!
Next project is a homemade tire changer so I never have to wait for a shop to put on a new tire. With all the damn flats I seem to have I think it will be a good move.  cooldude

I'm right there with ya on that idea. Are you gonna make it MC only ?  I do more trailer and tractor tires than bike. I'm going for a design for any and all tires.

Way to go Eddie cooldude You've got three Valks, you need a place to work on them. That looks like a great alternative, actually looks like the MOST STABLE I've ever seen.
I was looking at lift table a while back when I had a decent income and couldn't pull the trigger. Waaay too much money for me, I'll get on the floor, or on my roll around. Smiley

I've got an old buzz box welder, but never took shop or learned how to weld nice beads like you can.  Mostly mine are ugly and sometimes they work for a while, if I want better looking welds I call my son.
