OOPSIE!

This morning I saw a similar sight, only it had a guy under it.

I work out every morning at 5am.  On the way home from the gym, I frequently (maybe once or twice a week) bump into the same man on his way home from working a dog shift.  We generally make an effort to catch up with one another to exchange small talk while sitting at the traffic lights.  This morning was no different, when he saw me, he weaved through a couple of cars to say "hello."  When he pulled his Suzuki up beside me at the traffic light, I briefly saw a look of terror in his face.  He fell over to the left with the bike on top of him.  His boot lace had caught on the shift lever and tripped him up.  We picked up the bike and no damage thanks to a rather large crash bar.

I have no idea what my story has to do with your post, except I had just seen the bottom of this guy's bike before I saw the bottom of yours.

Hey Dave,

Sorry that happened...

Since no one addressed this specifically, to help others to avoid the same outcome, I'll voice my opinion based on my personal observations.

A 2x4 is quite handy to stand the Valk a little straighter for cleaning or making it a little easier to get around it in the garage while it consumes slightly less space. I use it all the time in the garage.

If a Valk' rear MC tire leaks down or goes flat while on the side stand it's not likely to fall over.
However, place a 2x4 under the same bikes sidestand and have it leak down over night it's likely to fall over or into something.

When I had my CT installed I surmised a 50 or 55 series being shorter then a MC tire with a 2x4 under the sidestand greatly increased the chance for a fall.
Along with that, the CT wants to stand the bike up anyway. With a slow leak, gust of wind or hands on cleaning [maybe even just the force of a pressure washer] could initiate movement. Once that happens the CT takes over by standing it vertical and the combined momentum lays her over.

Even with an MC tire I never use the 2x4 for at least a day after riding, and never if I'm unable to get a look at her once day while she's blocked up, to test her stability and/or air pressures.
On a 2x4 with an MC tire if the rear goes low or flat it will also fall over.

Storing a Valk on a 2x4 is risky too.

If he had put Dynabeads in his tires, wouldn't have happened...they would have been in the bottom of the tires....lead weights were at the top of the rims and just brought her right on over once Weaver pushed her just a little...Dynabeads needs to use his pictures in their advertisements as another safety benefit of their product....
