vmax is total badass. over 200 hp they make STOCK. impressive. not cruisers tho. street bikes or naked sport bikes. either way, not cruiser. the 109 stock doesnt have much for a stock valk. big bore number sound impressive but, the stock tune is gay. lean conditions for epa crap and no real rpm range. spanked a few of them easily. now, ive had my run up against some modded warriors that are absolutely scary. but not stock. a stock raider has a nice kick in the pants tho. and dont forget, the new stratoliner by big blue is a super nice cruiser/tourer that has plenty of power to get you around the lane hogs... this next gen hd's arent any slouches. do some homework and read the numbers. they actually have impressive times to 60 but mostly from 60 to 100. seriously thinkng about taking a look at the new 103's....
Pick and choose as ya'll wish. the valk was number one best cruiser throughout its production because of its size, comfort, power and manueverability. the vmax was the fastest yes but couldnt hold a candle the the valk in the twisties...and neither with the R3. cumbersome...

IMO – I don’t know that anything will “annihilate” a Valk. . . Don’t misunderstand me. Certainly there are quicker bikes, but I’ve taken more than a few crotch rockets off the line (true!) street light to street light. Maybe it has more to do where the power band is, eh? The front end of my Valk will come up pretty quickly also, if I let it. . .
I completely agree about the Triumph Rocket III. I rode one a few times now and have been duly impressed. It’s one scary fast machine for sure and I think it would take a Valk. As a long-time Triumph fan though, I’m still not clear why they resurrected an old BSA model nameplate to put on their flagship. I don't get it? Doesn't matter. I can’t afford one anyway, no matter what they’re called. I’m so poor I can’t pay attention. . . In fact; I’m so poor if around the world tickets were 10 bucks a pop, I couldn’t get to the end of my driveway! I’m so poor that if steamboats were 5 bucks for a dozen, all I could do is run up and down the shore yelling; “what a deal!”
I’ve never ridden a Suzuki in my entire life. . . . I’ve sat on the M109 though and it seems small (to me!)
The 1800 Wing is a fast bike, especially for what it’s designed to be. As soon as I start getting my Government cheese, I am buying both a Wing & a TR III. . .
I’ve stomped all over my buddies VTX, but maybe he doesn’t have it dialed in right?
I'm talking about the second generation Vmax KW. It has about 80 horses and a 80lb advantage on the Valk. In the right hands "annihilate" is a word you could use. That said, it's also VERY expensive and complicated and it's state of the art where the Valk relies on a lot of legacy technology. The 1st gen Max is actually pretty close to the Valk in terms of performance and technology. It's for this reason (among others) that I'd like to see Honda build a truly badass next gen Valk. Bump displacement to two liters, bump compression to the 11:1 neighborhood and a sexted of TBI with shower injectors would be a good start. No offense to the Rune, I actually like them for what they are, but it wasn't really the next Valkyrie I was looking for. But that you're beating crotch rockets off the line is totally expected. The Valk will wheelie with some clutch. My 954RR would power wheelie through the first three gears three gears and at 145 horses it's considered underpowered by today's standards (the BMW S1000RR is making almost 200 horses at the wheel). Get too frisky and you're wearing the bike for a hat faster than you can blink. But a lot of these new bikes are coming with anti-wheelie and traction control as standard equipment taking the rider skill out of the equation. TT, I'm 6'0" and about 250-260 and I fit just fine on a VRod and VMax. They're plenty full sized bikes It's just that your perception is skewed by the Valk's vast dimensions. I know this from my own experience because back when my Valk was still with it's previous owner I had my FLSTF and we swapped rides on occasion. Now, the Fat Boy is not a small bike by any standards not including the word "hoss". But every time I got on the Valk I was taken aback by it's sheer size. It made my Fat Boy feel TINY.

We part ways on liking the Rune though. I know the thing ‘runs,’ but beauty is in the eye of the beholder, eh? And, IMO, it’s a butt ugly bike similar to that George Jetson ‘Vision’ thing that Snowmobile Company puts out. (I sure hope that doesn’t start a flame with Rune owners – both of them ) Haha, well I was trying to be nice, I know we have a couple of Rune owners here. The Rune as a complete bike doesn't do it for me. The front suspension I think is really cool (reminds me of chromed landing gear) and the rear fender though audacious, is pretty cool too. What I don't care for is the exhaust and all of the engine shrouding. It takes removes that raw mechanical appeal that cruiser buyers (like myself) find so attractive about motorcycles.

We actually agree on something Anvil. I too wish Honda would build another, newer version of the Valkyrie. Granted, my perspective is more than a little bias, but I’ve got to believe an 1800 based or maybe even an 8 cylinder (woo-woo!) Valk would be a big hit!

Somebody else was using blue when I had the gray background and I couldn't see that until I found out I could change the background to white. Now I can't read the orange. It really sucks to get old and blind! Sure wish everybody would stick to the common.... black!

HAHA! Sorry! I had no idea. . . . My background is BLACK and I just like orange & black. They were my High school colors, but maybe a change is in order? My College colors are brown & yellow, but I haven’t figured out that one yet! (LOL) Willow would be disappointed though. He's commented on my nice orange font before. So, how do you see white lettering with a white background?
PS - Most of my posts aren't worth reading, so trust me, you're not missing much I'm the blue-text guy, or anyhow, I marked stuff I was quoting with blue text... I've changed over to using bold black text for quotes... I remember, I was punching all the buttons on the first bit-mapped workstation I ever got, a DECstation with Ultrix on it... I figured out how to get black text on a black background... talk about hard to see -Mike

OK. Nevermind. Since HubCap stopped using the blue color I switched back to the standard gray background. Now KW... your orange text is beautiful! I'm not blind at all! And, even though your posts might not be "worth reading" I have to read them to find out! Otherwise I might miss something that will make me rich and famous. Well, I'm already famous but I would like to get rich too. Keep the school colors! I'm good. And thanks HubCap! BTW... If I wasn't such an incredible wuss who don't like to ride in 100 degree weather I would have gone with you guys to the mountains. Maybe I can catch up with you when it cools off.

When I win the Lotto ( It could happen!) I would like to take a Rune, and make it an "Interstate" What I mean is take all the items from an Interstate I could, Bags, fairing, pods, etc, change the pipes and other mods... BOOM an updated Valkyrie Interstate! I dont think it would be that hard after seeing what others have done with Standard Valks and other parts...... It would take some work, but not like building a bike from the ground up. In a couple of years, I might not need to win the Lotto ........ But I think that may be the Replacement for my Valk- or stable mate. B

I also would live to see an updated Valk Interstate. But with the price on the new cruisers these days I would not be able to afford one for a while. The new 1600cc BMW is about $29000 in Canada. Fricken crazy.

But I tried such trickery before I started whining and it doesn't work for me. When I elect the text it changes the background to light blue and the text stays orange. Does the same whether I'm using a gray or white background. But, it's fine now. The only reason went to the white background was so I could read when somebody (HubCapSC) used blue text. I'm happy!

Am I the only one who thinks the newest version of the Wing looks like the BMW? Nothing against Beemers, but why is Honda coping a European bike for their flagship model? I mean, just how many Goldwings are sold in Europe compared to America? I'm really turned off by it. . . . (just my opinion)

There were a few pics floating around one of the post here recently of a naked 1800 wing that someone had built. Would like to see how that one holds up to a valk. Maybe worth the work for a newer "Lady"
