Does is bug anyone but me when someone refers to a Valkyrie as a "Valky"?  For me, its like fingernails on a chalkboard....

What about refering to a Tourer as a "Tour"?

Neither really bothers me all that much. What bugs me is when someone (in this case a guy working the parts counter) tells mt that I'm pronouncing it wrong.

"It's pronounced volkyrie, not vAlkyrie"

I said, "Actually if you wanna get super douchey about it the v is soft, almost like a w so you're not pronouncing it right either. But I'm not a douche so I won't bring it up. So how about those brake pads???"

That still beats the PARTS GUY saying "Is that a Honda? A Goldwing....?"

Abbreviations for the most part (Valk, State, Etc.) don't bother me, but for some reason "Valky" does grate on me.

Those kinda get under my skin, but the biggest annoyance is the contrived "Now it's Valk related" meme in posts... And I know, I'm bringing a cascade of "Now it's Valk related" silliness down upon me, but just putting that out there...

There's a fellow in a local club who always  asks if I'm "still riding that Valerie". He's a good guy, and I've known him since he was a pup, so I just say, "yeah", and never mention the time he asked me to babysit his tittie dancer while he went to a club meeting with his H-D  in the bed of his truck.
.
I don't much care what others call her, but my favorite has to be "the hot water six".

Maybe there's hope.  I talked to my neighbor who has a HD EVO yesterday.  He referred to my bike as "foreign" and then mentioned that he didn't call it something else.  He thought that it was a BMW so maybe Honda and Suzuki are still Jap Crap.

What should we call a standard with bags a shield and electronic cruise control?

Not being a smart ass, I would just really like to know. I did shave the tourer emblems off the bags and the shield.

A well equiped standard. VIN will still show it as a standard regardles of what's added. Just saying it is what it is.

Never heard it called a Valky.

Now I pronounce it with a 'U' instead of a 'Al' sound. Vulkyrie. Then again I say wash with a 'R' in it.  crazy2

I never heard of either of those names, until today.....most people ask what is that and I'll say a Valkyrie and they say what?....and again Valkyrie and the next question is "who makes it?" answer Honda...usually end of conversation... Smiley...I do get alot of "nice bike" and "boy that looks fast" and of course "is that a V6?" It doesn't matter through, I ride it because I like it... cooldude

But I do have two "real" Tourers so it's OK.
They are the Super Deluxe Ultra Heritage Screaming Classic BadAss Editions & should be worth 10X what I paid for them in 5 more years.   Grin

What does the term "Bagger" mean to you guys? I always think of a Harley with a shield and bags. I have refered to my bike in casual conversation as a bagger thinking that people would understand the concept and understand that it's not a "dresser" (Interstate). I suppose bagger could be too generic as it does not detail hardbags vs soft or windshield vs fairing. Is bagger and dresser reserved for just the HD crowd?

I refer to my Standard as a "bagger" because the turn signals are part of the bags. In theory, at least, the bike is not road ready without the saddlebags.
When the leather bags were on it, the turn signals were mounted on the luggage rack bracket.

I use the term, "dresser", pretty loosely, but usually referring to Interstate/Venture/Ultra Glide type bikes.

I use the term bagger but refer to the bikes with hard bags set up for touring such as our Tourer, I/S, Ultras, etc. But I dont call a wing a bagger.  Undecided
