I've been chroming up my Valkyrie.  The bracket that holds the windscreen is an ugly, it look like  "pot metal”.  Does anyone know where I can get a chromed one?

Part number 3 &  4 on this page:      http://www.powersedge.com/pages/OemParts?aribrand=HOM#/Honda/GL1500CT_A_(98)_MOTORCYCLE%2c_USA%2c_VIN%23_1HFSC343-WA100001/GL1500CTWINDSCREEN/GL1500CT-98-A/2Y14MZ0VMZ04F3700BA4

Your link no like me.

So a question, is this a Tourer, Std, or I-State?

If it is a Std, who made the windshield?

If it is a Tourer, I don't recall any pot metal on mine, and since I can't see your link, I can only guess.

Tourer, take it off and have it chromed.

I-State - not sure but it seems 1 piece is pot metal, but if it is the one I'm thinking of, they would have to get their unwelcome nose down in there to see it.

Finally by trial and error, I found where you were trying to send us.

Sorry, I do not recall that item on my 97 Tourer and I've had that shield off an on numerous times.

I'll go out and look later, right now I have phone duty.   You know, answering incoming calls.

A Tourer, with a stock windscreen.  There are two brackets, one bolted to the windscreen, is polished alum. the other is what the first one attaches to.  That's the uggle one.  I guess it will be a winter project to get both chromed.

13 and 14 are pretty "pot metal" looking on my bike, I think new ones are
shiny... I'm thinking the PO of my bike left it in the weather, several
aluminum parts on it look bad... so if it is 13 and 14 you are talking about, maybe
new ones would do it... heck, maybe they could be polished?

Okay, I've heard 3 & 4, and now 13 & 14.

If it is 13 & 14, those are funky aluminum on mine.    Also, IMHO, they are far enough out of sight a good polishing would go them 110% better in looks.

That would sure beat chroming, or maybe I should say attempting to chrome them.

How about a good Powder coating?     I got several things on my Chevy Trike Powder coated, including the exhaust behind the headers.

Okay, look close.   Header is ceramic coated by Sanderson in San Francisco, little yellowish strip is actually a chrome strap, eliminates muffler clamps so you can separate the 2 pipes without using a air chisel, when you see it live, from there back it is all Powder Coated.    I made this exhaust about 5 or 6 years ago.  Has probably 15 to 17,000 miles on it.

By going 4" (header) to 3" (muffler inlet) to 4" (outlet) on the muffler really added some torque to the ole girl.

I'm pretty sure that 13 & 14 are steel on my bike.  There might be some kind of plating (zink oxide?) on them or perhaps they are just un-polished stainless.

The starter has some kind of coating on it. I thought mine was dull, so I polished it. After about a week it was rusty  Smiley

My 13 & 14 do have some kind of plating, but not chrome.  they are a bit pitted and a little dull.

The brackets I'm talking about are #s 3 & 4.  I just checked 13 & 14, 3 & 4 are steal or iron.  3 & 4 just look like pot medal.

Since there is so much chrome for the bike on the market I thought I'd ask the forum.   I've learned "Chrome is my favorite color" but power coating is a good idea.

Hey Fasted I didn't like the look of any of the brackets on the backside of the windscreen so I had them all chromed. It cost big but looks great. Had 2,3,4,,10,13 and 14 done.
