This won't be in your local papers!

Please read the attached article below for yourself.

Remember the violent and disgusting demonstrations over Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker doing away with collective bargaining for teacher's unions? The results are in. Some school districts went from a $400,000 deficit to a $1,500,000 surplus as a result. Why?

It seems that the insurance company that provided all the "so-called" benefits to the teachers was an insurance company owned and operated by the teacher's union. Since the outfit was guaranteed to get the insurance business from the teachers, and the State had to pay for it (not the teachers) the insurance company was increasing annual costs every single year to become the most expensive insurance company in the state. Then the company was donating millions and millions of dollars to its favorite politicians who, when they got elected, guaranteed to keep funding the union's outrageous costs. In other words, the insurance company was a "pass through" for Wisconsin taxpayer money directly to the politicians.

Nice racket, and this is the racket that is going on in every single State that allows collective bargaining. No wonder the States are taking it away. Now the State of Wisconsin is free to put the insurance contract out for bids and, lo and behold, they have saved so much money it has turned deficits into surplus amounts. As a result, none of the teachers had to be laid off, everyone got a raise, etc., etc., and the taxpayers of Wisconsin don't have to pay more taxes to fund the union's political ambitions.

Here is the article:

and they have actually hired MORE teachers cooldude

most americans like educators, its a well respected gig

most americans revile union bosses, not much respect there. I mentioned this a while back all the doom and gloom and chaos expected by the left has not come to pass.

the union insurance companies did the exact thing they ALWAYS accuse private insurance companies of ie; jack up rates and ripping people off.

lets see what happens now in Ohio  Cool

Collective bagaining has been an essential part of this countries rise in the middle class.

The term "Redneck" refers to the coalminers rebeliion against unsafe working conditions, extremely low wages, long work days, company stores and company housing.
They wore red neckerchiefs so that the army could tell them apart from the anti-union security thugs.

In MI, Flint, Detroit, and other autoplants there were so many unfair and dangerous conditions that gave rise to the UAW.

Not verything a union does is to be considered "above board" but that can be said of employers too.
Of course Politics makes for strange bedfellows.

I believe the Unions may have had their time and place, and did some good for the workers, country etc.  But that time and place is no more, and they have become nothing more the same greedy money grabbin politicians for the most part (IMO).

Collective bagaining has been an essential part of this countries rise in the middle class...

And with the demise of unions, so goes the demise of the middle class.

What is so funny sad is that so many of that middle class are willing to roll over and just take it.

But, then again, that is what the politicians and CEOs want to happen... the middle class fighting so much amongst themselves that they are completely ignoring their own demise at the hands of others.

This is EXACTLY what Glen Beck said!  EXACTLY!     I know, I know, phuck Glen Beck, he's an idiot.  But he sure called this one.  But not with the whole union thing.  He was refering to the protesting and the insane split in ideology amongst the people that we would fight each other while the few behind the scenes orchestrators sat back and enjoyed the spoils at our expense.

And why is that?  ND is a Right to Work State.  the pay for driving truck up here just went to $30 per hour, plus a 100% paid health insurance plan.  My drivers are averaging over 50 hours per week, and are at about $100,000 per year income, plus full health.

They are NOT middle income?  They are in NO union.

Demand and Markets should set the wages.

The anti-free-marketers are the socialists of tomorrow.

Anti-trust laws.

OSHA and other organizations now protect the worker.

Lawsuits and Lawyers are the ones that win the cases for the worker.

Not the Unions.

In most casese not all.

I'm a union worker ( 26 years ) and damn proud of it . Corporate greed is alive and kickin' the only reason it's not still like the " old days " is the unions.

"Although it is true that only about 20 percent of American workers are in unions, that 20 percent sets the standards across the board in salaries, benefits and working conditions. If you are making a decent salary in a non-union company, you owe that to the unions.  One thing that corporations do not do is give out money out of the goodness of their hearts."

while everyone can argue pro's and con's for unions, it is the benifit packages that  they negotiate  is crippling. the article is proof of that. does the union still have its place in todays society, in some instances yes. but the biggest problem i see is that the delegates are just like polititions, out to protect their own job and make as much money as they can. if they go back to looking out for the workers like they originally started out doing then great, but until they do that they are a hinderance. another huge problem is the salaries they negotiate because it is a union shop. dont get me wrong, i am all for making as much in a salary as possible but if not for being in the union the market would never pay that much. and then people wonder why things cost so much...

I have been in the union for over 18 years, and they have never did a damn thing for me.  I work for the Federal Gov't up here in Canada and when I had a problem with getting myself promoted they just told me that there was nothing they could do.  I took the bull by the horns myself and brought it through the higher chains of command until I got to the top.  Stated my case, gave my arguments and I got the promotion.

I have to agree that the unions have done what was needed but, their time has come to take a bow and leave the stage.  Now, it seems, they are there for their own agendas and they don't give a crap about the workers.  The reason things are so expensive these days is because unions have driven the price of the labour so high.  A car in '88 that sold for $8000 now sells for $27000.  My wages have not kept up with that kind of increase.  You used to finance a car for 48 months, then 60 months, now people have to finance it for 84 months to afford the same car.   It used to be that one income could sustain a family, now it takes two, unless the one person is making a butt load of cash.  Not the case for most though.

Alright, i've got to chime in, since i live in Wisconsin.....

another good thing that happened is that a bunch of older, grumpier, worthless teachers decided to FINALLY retire!  that's why so many NEW teaching positions came available.  losing those high dollar teachers opened the door for some good younger blood, people that WANT to teach, not just show up for a job.  plus, the state is only asking the teachers to pay 12% to their own retirement and benefits, ask yourself how much YOU pay for YOUR OWN retirement and benefits?  the average Wisconsinite pays up to 21% of their wage to medical and retirement.  the next thing is hopefully making it impossible for these teachers to not  be able to retire, collect retirement money, then work part time in the same position they retired from, for the same amount of money they were making before they retired.  kinda like double dipping.  wouldn't you like to do that at your work place??

as for unions, they don't accept everyone.  i tried three times to get in with the local IBEW.  the last and final time i tried i brought the union a list of 7 co-workers that were also interested in joining.  much of their decisions are political, and they DO look at political opinions.
