We also started day 5 without power.

They are telling us our town "should" have it Sunday. With Irene still a vivid memory, this is getting old fast. At least now the cable TV mysteriously came back, as did the Internet. ???
As long as the generator is on, we are at least comfortable. The main computers, which we use to run our business, are still down. They are powered through Battery backed - up power conditioners, and they won't accept the generator power. Not regulated enough I guess. Could be worse though. We could be cold and without water.
What bothers me is the fact that nothing is changing.

They aren't improving anything, just repairing stuff. Connecticut Light & Power (CL&P) has gone on record that they could not afford to go to underground utilities without the consumer paying the tab for that, and that the cost would be crazy, at least per them. ???
Funny how every time it costs something I have to pay for it, yet during years of record profits, they never ever sent me a profit sharing check.

I guess they consider it a one way street.

When the Cost of fuel goes up, my rates goes up. Grid needs repair, my rates go up. Grid needs upgrading, my rates go up. Record profits, my rates still go up, and they spend the profits. And yes, I understand about a business being in business to make a profit, and responsibilities to stock holders, etc. Must be nice to pass along what you want, and keep what you want.

But... in MY business, when I have to buy new equipment to service my customers, it's the cost of doing business. Amazing to me how this stuff never comes to my favor.

Seems to me that CL&P could SLOWLY start to convert their grid to underground, and make that part of their operating costs. Oh well, just another thing to make the blood pressure go up.

OK, Ranting is now complete!!!
