Can feel the passion that you have for the Civil War. I was interested and when I saw Ken Burns documentary I was hooked.
An amazing event that still shapes our country today....150 years later.
Great report.

My youngest daughter used to research things to see along our routes, and that cemetery is one of them.
Supposedly, we have a Great or Great Great Uncle who is buried there. Not sure what outfit he was with as the older family members when they were alive were VERY VERY damn tight lipped about the war.
I know they finally settled in Thorn Hill, TN afterwards.
All I could ever get out of my family was he was born about 1830. NO month or day. Don't have a deceased date either.

What was his name ? Most of the older markers are very hard to read as most are rocks with the names chiseled on them.We ride up through Thorn Hill all the time we can make a nice day ride hoop that follows beautiful Norris Lake and the headwaters of the Clinch and Powell Rivers. Thats a nice area

As of now " The Ride To Vicksburg " is still a go after Christmas.I've been by The Siege of Vicksburg, Mississippi several times while ridin' The Natchez Trace but time was always a issue and we never stopped this time we'll ride to outside of Hattieburg, Mississppi for the night and make the saturday ride to Vicksburg with plenty of time to check out the battlefield.

I always get a chortle out of that "war of northern aggression" line.
The country looks like Vermont. Very pretty.

Boxer rebellion, the Holy Child. They all pay their rent. But none together can testify to the rhythm of a road well bent. Saddles and zip codes, passports and gates, the Jones' keep. In August the water is trickling, in April it's furious deep.
