Hello, I have babied, studied, rebuilt, prayed upon, asked for spiritual healing and stood there with my pants at half mast while singing the Japanese state anthem, nothing worked, ready to try a pingle or something better. Would like some input. Thanks in advance. Rick

That's funny Farther.

Ryord, just put in a Dan-Marc fuel shut off and your problems will be solved.  You don't have to remember to shut anything off.  Just do the modification of the oem petcock that Gryphon Rider suggested in an earlier thread and you are golden.

I like the manual Pingle, just remember to use it.. It'll eventually become a habit.. Its still not a guarantee against a fuel-lock, but, it'll help.. Add a fuel filter while you're at it..

I was fed up with my OEM as well after trying to rebuild it twice with no luck. Being that I was going to replace it, I didn't take any changes so I put in a Dan-Marc fuel shut off along with a Pingel. Just an extra precaution against Hydro-Lock.

You had me laughing there, good stuff.  I installed a Golan with one of their Micron filters on my I/S.  I went with the Golan because it has the detents.  Pretty easy to get into the habit of turning off the petcock.  I may add the Dan Marc shut off down the road as another precaution.

buy yourself a brand new oem petcock. Even doorknobs and hinges wear after years of use from the motion of opening and closing.

Can't you just turn the oem petcock on and off with the key and not have to worry about hydro lock?

A search using "Dan-Marc fuel shut off" returns no results using the search function. So, what's a Dan-Marc fuel shut off?

Thanks for the responses. The OEM petcock is new as of last year, I did have an inline filter which I removed. It still seems to just occasionally run out of gas when I am about 3 gallons down. Recovers when I put it on reserve. I should still have about a gallon or more before it hits the true reserve point. Venting is no problem checked that. Seems to happen when the weather gets a little warmer about 55 degrees and at highway speeds. It is the only issue that I have with my 2001 Standard with about 12k miles on it. Rick

Rebuild it, or replace it, but don't leave it that way till it sneaks up on you.  Pingel, oem, or golan.    Hoser

OK, So I choose between a pingle and golan. They both look good. The golan  web site states they have a model with an extra long feed tube. what are you thoughts on that. I am not sure I want to try to extend the tube on the pingle or even if it is necessary. Let me know what you folks think. Rick where we will have a nice warm day in Kansas City area.

You could just convert the OEM petcock to a manual valve. I've been manual for at least three years with no problems.

I converted my OEM to manual after the diaphragm got a tear. That allowed the gas to follow the vacuum line to the engine. The diaphragm is gone.

Turning off the valve manually is not for everyone. I've done it my entire riding span continuing with bikes that didn't require shutoff.
To many it's a great convenience for $100.

Golan makes two types of filters. They both filter down to 10 microns (I think) but one is much smaller in length. You might get that one to fit upstream of the Danmarc.

I like the AFC Model 152 a lot better than the Model 111 that many have used. The Model 152 has a built in filter and a magnetic particle trap.

Dan-Marc sells this valve here: http://www.danmarcrvparts.com/12vo1orinfis.html

An older discussion of the two models is here: http://www.valkyrieforum.com/bbs/index.php/topic,18768.0.html
