The Peach Tree Inn in Fredericksburg will be our ground zero for the Texas Hill Country Ride In. It's two blocks off Main street at Washington and Ufer. Fredericksburg is a great town and lots to see and do there. The Signup sheet is here: http://www.vrccdev.com/rally/texas-signup.htmIf you want to see who else is going, just click here: http://www.vrccdev.com/rally/texas-list.phpThis is a map of the location. http://g.co/maps/gqd87You must call the hotel to make your reservations Until March 2nd as they have taken them off the internet to block for our group. They have blocked 19 rooms (all that are left in the courtyard area) for us until March 2nd, but they also have the suites in back open (that's where the meadow like area is). Rates for the courtyard rooms are from $79.99 to $99.99 per night plus tax. Toll-Free: (800) 843-4666. If you want a suite, just ask. That won't take away from the courtyard rooms we are blocking. Some rooms are already booked by others but if they cancel, we'll get first shot. Tell them you are with the VRCC to get a room. After March 2nd, the block will be gone but there will still be rooms. Just tell them VRCC and ask for the courtyard rooms. For Friday night, get there early enough to go to RockBox, which is a theater with a fantastic group of musicians who play music of the 50's and 60's. Show starts at 8PM. Read about it here: http://www.rockboxtheater.com/Rides around Fredericksburg are being planned for Saturday as well as a group dinner for Saturday night in Fredericksburg at the Fredericksburg Brewing Company (they have good food, too) http://www.yourbrewery.com/index.html. Sunday, nothing planned yet. Visit The Nimitz National Museum of the Pacific before you leave - it is a treasure - takes hours and has so much history. http://www.pacificwarmuseum.org/index.asp

Not sure what ya'lls itinerary is but something to consider is The old tunnel batcave viewing. It's about 10-12 miles away from Fredericksburg down a neat country road. Information (veiwing times, maps, etc...) can be found by googleing "old tunnel batcave in Fredericksburg". Some buds and I were up in Luchenback a while back at the Vintage M/C rally, which is the w/e after ya'lls ride (19-21), and we came across this batcave.
We have an annual "Fredericksburg" trip (non-biking friends) and last year at the last minute the wife and I couldn't go due to an illness, but the other friends did take in the Bats and thought it was well worth the trip. Plus there is a resturant right by there that claims to have the best burgers in Texas. My friends concur.
I see ya'll have the Rockbox on the list, I never miss that when we go.

The Batcave is a short railway tunnel that was abandoned years ago. They have a park area around it now. The bats are supposed to be around until October, so with any luck, they will be there when we go. One of the rides I'm planning goes on the road out (Old San Antonio Road) and it is a roller coaster ride with twisties. Even fun in the mini-van! Our trick is to take a ride to the batcave, be there for the bats and then make it back to town in time for dinner or Rockbox. Havent' figured that into the schedule. We may just visit the bats during the day and eat bat burgers next door.

Hopefully it will work with the Rockbox times. Huh! The more I get into this the more I want to go! But we'll probably go the next w/e for the rally in Luchenback.

Back in 2004, we had T-shirts for the Kerrville Rally, as it was called then.
Is there any interest in having a T-shirt for this year? We'd need to sell at least 35 to make it work for the F6Rider store. Probably around $20-$25 each.

Definitely. This is a ride where we probably don't know everyone, either. And getting together with fellow Valkaholics is a great thing! You'll learn a lot and have fun since we tend to be a group of do-it-yourselfers. Many of the riders do bring their better half in the pillion seat as well. You will find a welcoming group and one who is always happy to have a new member. You will, of course, have to bring a goat for a midnight sacrifice and steal the wallet of a close friend to prove your worthiness......... Nah....... Hope to meet you in October! RainMaker

Hey Rainmaker , the Food is Dynamite ,one Sat. a group of us met SuperValk ( Damian) at his shop in Boerne there was Geezer , Curtis , Wabbitt ( Bob ) and two other New Valk riders who were Ministers who came along , so from there we followed SuperValk ( Damian ) to the Cafe and the ride was GREAT .... They have a good sized dirt parking lot covered with a layer of like a pea gravel , Now there is a concrete slab thats about 20X20 I guess off to the left as you pull in , its first come first serve to park on the slab under the Oak trees for shade .... when we left we took a right toward Fredericksburg and poped out on Hwy. 290 and took another right towards the Luckenback Rd. and on to Luckenback .... Great ride that day , Good Food and Good company .... looking forward to Oct. when its COOLER ... Thanks the Geezer

Looks like 41 signed up for the ride so far. There are a few duplicates/multiple tries on the signup page we should probably clean up, but not a big deal.
Can't wait to get my T-Shirts - should be arriving in the next week or two.
As for now, planning on going down early (Wed night) to pre-ride some. Anyone with great routes/rides out of Fredericksburg, please PM me with the details. If you would like to volunteer to lead any of the routes, also PM me. It would be great to have multiple choices for the group.

We hope to be down for the weekend, but it will depend on the flights. because Austin City Limits has a big program going on in Austin that weekend we will have to fly into and out of SAT. I think we couldn't make it a couple of other times because of the same deal. hope to see everyone soon! T.P.
