I understand the concept behind velocity stacks in general, but here's my problem with them on a Valkyrie: They don't do anything. I can't see spending money, waiting for shipping, raising my tank and then getting no benefit whatsoever. To each his or her own, but to me it makes about as much sense as superglueing one of these to the hood of my wife's Explorer.

There isnt anything to understand. For many owners they like the look. Its just that simple. the stacks have been a very popular add on. They work in the "looks" catagory just like paint, chrome pieces, etc.

I used to have a plastic chrome propeller in the trailer hitch on my trike, and was absolutely unable to keep a straight face when asked if I took it in the water. one of the askers was a friend...

I've heard the stacks referred to as "rain gauges." They might serve a purpose after all...

actually, they do serve a function. they improve milage when your sitting at a stop sign, parked in front of the local hangout, etc some guy wants to race, looks, sees the stacks, and says nooooo, you've hotrodded that bike. i'm not trying you. there you've saved gas. simple. right?

I have three Valks, one I/S (SuperValk) and it's a chrome whore. I also have a 98 Std. (Rat Rod) that is stripped of a ton of extras (even removed chrome and had those parts powder coated) but it does have aux. floorboards, headlight Tri-bar and an aluminum grille. I'm currently building a 97 bobber that has no chrome whatsoever and no accessories either. These bikes are what you make them. If you like the looks of VSs, then go for it. But I'm more of a "function over form" type.

Just for pure non functional asthestics, Velocity stacks are the best bling that can be added to a bike and draws the most comments from the "uniformed" crowd. I'm not alone in that opinion just by what gets commented on.

I think they look great but I just can't put a performance part on my bike that is just for show. I love late 60's and early 70's Detroit muscle cars especially ones with the big functional hood scoops like the Hemi Cuda. Couldn't stand it when the scoop wasn't functional.

Stacks are cool, fake boobs are not. I am still undecided on this. Far more investigation is needed. I am working on a larger sample set right now and a more "hands on" approach. I will let everyone know the final determination. Study is budgeted through to the end of december 2025! Prospective test participants are always welcome to apply, Send photo and application to.......
