Bought mine new off the showroom floor in June of 1997 at Zanotti's in Butler PA.  The ride home (back to Pittsburgh) was the first time I rode one and it was high adventure.

what kind of hondaline acc. is that on your windscreen?  crazy2

Honda Doppler Radar with Kuryakyn handlebar clamp adapter. Getting harder and harder to find, but I think Valkyrie Bling and More usually can get one for you.  2funny

She is still my favorite named her Odessa after my Grandmother who took me to buy my first bike in 1964 Honda 160CB. She still looks good after 11 years and 117K miles. cooldude

Bought my 2000 Blue/Silver Interstate new in May of 2000 through a service called Moto-Broker.  The Valkyrie came out of Los Angeles and was $2K cheaper through the broker than I could get locally in the DFW area.  I had the rear speakers installed as it's only option.  The broker test rode it in Los Angeles and then drained the gas and shipped it to me on Allied Van Lines.  Had to have a loading dock to get it off the van and a forklift, so had it delivered to the CompUSA PC factory in Fort Worth where I was a senior director.  Took a gas can to work that day and when it arrived, the forklift driver took it off in it's pallet, we unstrapped it and got it off the pallet.  Put in the gas, turned the key and it started right up.  The ramp for the factory was at the other end of the facility, so at lunch time, I rode it down the main aisle from one end to the other and down the ramp.  The looks of people seeing a motorcycle, especially such a beautiful, big motorcycle, buzzing through the factory was priceless.  Rode it home (25 miles) with no plates, inspection, etc. on the backroads and somehow avoided all of the law enforcement professionals.

Couldn't ride it for a week until all the paperwork was filed, it was inspected and plates issued.  So I sat in the garage, learned how to operate the radio control stalk, put the toll tag on it and just revved it a lot Cheesy

The picture here is the first night at home in new condition.  Now at 72K with more chrome, cb, pod fog lights, darkside tire and a substantial crash that had the trunk, fairing and one saddlebag replaced in 2001 along with a broken collarbone.  It's the last motorcycle I plan to buy or ride since you can't improve on Joe Boyd's vision. cooldude

New to me in 2010, a 1997 standard with approximately 19,000 miles. "She" is pearl purple and pearl white. I'm the third owner and very proud of her.  Cool

Last Fall (2011), I was able to pick up a second Valk (1998 standard) that is pearl dark blue and pearl cream with only 612 miles. This bike was stored for about 12 years and needs some work. I'm the second owner. This coming summer I'll make "her" as good as new !  Wink

Yep. Leftover '97 model bought new in 1998. I added the color-matched Harley FLH fairing and old-style police tourpack shortly before they announced the Interstate. Early on I had a lot of "Is that the new Interstate?" questions.

I got my 99 I/S left over still in the crate the first week of March of 2000 at Max Pitts in Peru Indiana. Out the door for $11,000 and then paid my taxes and plates in Illinois. Almost alway had two bikes (Transalp then V-strom) so only 60,000 on the valk now.

Well.  I will say yes to still having my Fast Black Standard from the crate.
My brother (RIP) bought the 2000 in the crate in Nov. 99 and rode it every day all over the country and Canada.
I lost him in July of 09 and inherited his dream bike.  He always said it would be mine someday.
Pic of him in 09 with the dragon... and me with it now.  She's just getting ready to break 150,000 mi

Bad cellphone pics... but ya get the idea.

I envy you guys who bought yours new, I was unable to. I was recently divorced and didn't think I could afford her. So I bought mine in 2006 with around 10k on her. And I completely agree with DFragn, She will be with me until the end. Everytime I think of something I go for a ride and yeah thought of new is gone. The ride to New York last year made me also realize I need more longer rides with her.

Kind of easy to see why Honda quit making the Valk.  I would say at least 2/3's of the replies here, talk about buying a "leftover" model.  ie, one or two years after the model year.  They sold really slow.

For those of us who love them, they are great.  To the general MC buying public back then, they all wanted V-Twinkies.

Bought my left over `99 Pearl Orange/Black Standard new in July 2001.  She has almost 81K on her now.  She would have over 100K as my `04 Rune (purchased new in Nov. `04) is about to click over 32K.   Valk on!
