Good price point, 6 bucks and change, gasket fits like OEM, did not like the SuperTech filter, the gasket always stuck and the filter did not come off easily. I was happy to see Fram makes them and Wally World carries them! The filter tool doesn't fit as well, but what the heck, can't have everything!

I saw a cut away comparrison and the Fram filters were all cardboard inside and didnt look as well made as the Super Tek which were BTW almost indistinguishable from a $12 oem on the inside.

I use OEM filters when possible, but a lot of folks shy away from the Fram. I use Purolator when necessary.

The Purolator Pure One filters are still made in the USA and are one of the highest rated filters. I find them at Pep Boys for $6.49. Part #PL14610 (3.25") and PL14612 for the standard length (2.5") short filter.

Bah, I've used Fram's PH8A on my Explorer for 250,000 miles and no problems, not sure I'd say they were shite, but what do I know  Thanks for the tips, I like the idea of the Pilot's filter...especially the 3 1/4" one, beer cans fit better... |

I have a Honda I/S and a Shadow ACE, both use the same filter. On the Shadow site they posted a comparison on quality of filters and brands, Purlator One was top of the list but others very close. http://www.calsci.com/motorcycleinfo/FilterXRef.html |
