As most of you know I've been fighting cancer for almost 8 years now.  I've known for a while that it is incurable.  I'm still fighting because I don't know any other way but things are how they are.

I met with my oncologist today to discuss the results of my latest PET scan and I asked him for a time frame...(I call it my "freshness date") and he said I have about four months left.

I'm going to continue to ride and hope to see everyone at the Hillbilly Highway Run if not sooner.

It has been a pleasure and a privledge to ride with folks I've met on the VRCC.

Thanks....

incurable, well that's a lie. u do know that the PET scan puts a very large amount of radiation into u thereby causing more cancer by damaging healthy cells. My pit bull terrier came down with cancer when he was five, they told me if he didn't go on chemo and surgery he would die in 6 months. Following a naturual diet and supplements, he didn't die until last yr when he was 16 yrs old which is about 94 in human yrs.

first there is the power of the all healing all powerful Son of God, Jesus the Christ. He made u and He can heal u. Praise God!

I will keep u in my prayers!

I've got about five weeks worth left on the two projects I'm involved with.  I made a commitment to these people and my word is my bond no matter the situation so I will finish them as soon as possible.

When I'm done I want to go visit some Civil War sites...Fort Sumter, Antietem, Richmond...etc.

Them I want to go home and say goodbye to my mom.

I wish I had better news but it is what it is.

I'm still going to take some treatment because at this point I don't know what else to do.  I understand what is happening to me and am handleing it the best way I know how.

I've just begun the long ride home..... cooldude

Paul, though I have not met you, from what I've read either from you or about you by others, I know that you are a great guy. I agree with what others have said: Life is terminal, and none of us know how long we have. Some live forever and do nothing with their lives, while others like you pack it so full that it really does not matter how long it took to do it.

From your attitude alone Paul, you are an inspiration to me. You have a very unique thing that many of us won't get to experience: Namely that you know just what an impact you have had on many that you have met, or touched in some way. I know you had that effect on me, and I thank you for that!

As for whatever time you have left, do whatever you want with it, but above all, enjoy it, and make some more memories. Besides, the Doc may be wrong, only the Lord our Savior really knows the answer to that. angel

Dr gave my father in law 6 months now 6 years later he is still going. Big  mistake to ask the Dr about a date especially when a Dr was wrong the firist time and you have been going on so far. You will know the time not him.

I too have never met you...

Please realize how much your courage in the face of this moves all of us to try and be the best we can possibly be  ...to our family ...to our friends ...and to all whom we interact.

The strength that you so readily give to us is the legacy that will transcend the physical body.

Paul,

Keep up the good fight, brother.  I've got a friend with an incurable brain tumor.  He keeps fighting and keeps proving the doctors wrong.  Every time they give him a time frame, he blows right by it.  Don't think doctors are always right - they're not.  The only one who knows your going home date is God.  Just keep fighting and enjoying life.  My thoughts and prayers are with you.

The courage that you have shown in this is an example in excellence for us all.

Keep your head up and hang in there,

I'm sure that your Doc is a good one but the truth is that only God knows when any of us will be called away from this world.

Give me a shout when you decide to tour Richmond,

It will be a pleasure to share some wind with you.

I don't have any words of wisdom or anything profound to say, and God knows I wish I did. I want you to know that I'm really proud to be a small part of the same riding club you belong to.

I hope when it's my time I can face it with even a small percentage of the dignity and courage you show so clearly. You are indeed an inspiration to us all.

As has been said, the doc is giving you an "EWAG", an educated wild ass guess. You're on God's time not man's just as we all are. Get the things done that you need to get done and enjoy life to the best of your ability. You may surprise the calender and the doc and I'm praying that you do.

So many of these posts made me think of this movie about a strikingly similar situation.

And while I did find it a really good flick, as I watch that trailer now I can't help but think that it would be silly of me to suggest sitting and watching a movie when I can't honestly say I'd bother to put butt to chair long enough to do so were I in your shoes.

It's a rare moment when anything gives pause for reflection the way you've done here; we're lucky to count you among us.

And with regards to riding, man ride your heart out, complete the bucket list and once complete, start a new one.

Thumper, I agree with many on this board. Only God knows the time. My wife had what everyone said was the best cancer doctor in the U.S. and he gave her 8 months to live. She lived another eight years. Good to prepare but as Yogi Berra put it, "It ain't over till it's over." Hang in there and i will join the others in this club in prayer for you. God Bless.
