It doesn't "exempt" them exactly. It just doesn't affect them because they have health care for life after serving one term just as it won't affect you if you have health care.

Boxer rebellion, the Holy Child. They all pay their rent. But none together can testify to the rhythm of a road well bent. Saddles and zip codes, passports and gates, the Jones' keep. In August the water is trickling, in April it's furious deep.

Insurance for life......that is exactly what needs to change. When they get out of office they need to fall back to the same plan you and me are gonna get from the Health Care Folly.

Full pension too for Congress I believe. It's disgusting the amount of waste we put up with. It's like walking into a pet store and dumping money into an aquarium full of snakes.

A full pension is available to Members 62 years of age with 5 years of service; 50 years or older with 20 years of service; or 25 years of service at any age. Source: http://foxx.house.gov

Whatever the term of service/age requirements/payout, THEY MAKE NO CONTRIBUTIONS WHATEVER to their retirement plan. How many of you have a deal like that where you work?

Hmm, interesting. You know, that has come up in discussion several times by people who's opinion I respect and trust so I never bothered to actually look it up. They're still grossly overpaid, especially for their level of effectiveness. But at least they're not grossly overpaid for life.
