Has anyone here converted the mounting of jumbo strong bags to untilize the posts for leatherlyke bags.  I see this as an advantage for quick removal and convertable to use leatherlyke bags if desired.  Or other bags for that matter.
I have considered modifying the supports for the leather Hondaline Valkyrie bags to slip over leatherlyke posts to use those as well.

Any thoughts on this matter would be appreciated.

I would really like to hear about anyone's experiences with this, also. I'm thinking about doing the same thing: taking my LeatherLyke bag mounts and somehow getting them to work as mounts for different bags. Those jumbo strongs do look nice. For me, I would be trying to keep the cost very low. So, ideally, I would really like to make some older Goldwing bags work with the LeatherLyke mounts. Maybe I'm way off base and this setup would be weak and/or lousy looking?

I've done a lot of searching and reading about creative things people have done with attaching bags to Valks. This thread shows how good the old Goldwing bags COULD look on a Valk, but doesn't really go far enough to convince me that I could do the job:

Also, I should mention that I am not experienced at all in fabricating. So the elaborate things that some of you skilled people have done are probably out of my league...

Thanks, all.

I posted this to Mike's question about my bags/mounts.  This is what I did to the oem leather bag mounts.

It's not a quick release at all, but it's how I mounted my Mustang bags.

I've only read about one guy modifying his Leather Lyke mounts before, but he never said or posted about how he did it exactly.  I don't remember his name either.....sorry.  But he modified his LL mounts to mount a set of the Mustang bags.  I think he said that he had used some plate to somehow to mount them, but I believe that he had said that they weren't all that stable mounted with the LL's either.  This is his bike with the Mustang's using the modified Leather Lyke mounts.....

Thanks for the reply, BF. I read many posts from you on how you've mounted those Mustang bags. Your posts are actually what got me to thinking more seriously about trying some kind of bag manipulation myself. Your setup looks great, and the work you did is really impressive. I just think they're a little out of my league in price and fab skills required at this time.

Those pics you attached of the other guy's bike with Mustang bags mounted to Leatherlyke mounts are really interesting. That setup looks very good in the pics. But you're right that we'd have to assume they aren't that stable unless he did something extra to supplement the Leatherlyke mounts. Definitely food for thought, though. Thanks for the info and pics.

I suppose it's pretty unrealistic of me to expect to have a stable setup by just attaching some other bags via rubber grommets to the Leatherlyke mounts, kind of like one guy suggests in this thread:

http://www.valkyrieforum.com/bbs/index.php/topic,25181.0.html

Also, I probably should have put this in the Tech forum, but I just replied to the original poster's message, which put it all here in General. Now I'm not sure how to move it (if that's possible). Sorry...
