A Constitutional crisis could be brewing between the state of Florida and the Federal Government. On Wednesday - Florida Governor Rick Scott sent a letter to the Department of Justice informing it that the state will continue with its statewide voter purge effort, despite warning form the DOJ that the state is in violation of the Voting Rights Act and the Voter Registration Act. The Miami Herald reports that the letter "dares the Justice Department to sue Florida." Governor Scott claims the voter purge is necessary to ensure undocumented immigrants don't vote in this year's election, however all 67 country election supervisors in Florida have pledged to not comply with Governor Scott - since the purge lists his administration has compiled are riddled with errors - leading to legal citizens losing their voting rights. Keep an eye on this story. The right has been doing this for years, screaming "Voter Fraud!" but the facts aren't there to back it up. When you look at the facts, it's one side that is being targeted. But I really din't think this is a surprise to anyone here, although I'm sure the usual talking points will be regurgitated.

Personally, I don't have a problem with purging the list of voters, just do it with an accurate reference. Having retired from Fla. gov't. after 30 yrs, I can assure you....the gov's list ain't accurate. If it were, then I'd say "go for it." As for voter fraud, it's quite widespread and not just in Flori-duh. I was in the Chicago area when the Nixon/Kennedy blow out came up. It was almost funny, they had more votes in many precincts...mostly the south side, than there were eligible residents. Nothing ever came of it, old Mayor Daley and his political machine were in control and saw to that. At one point, even the Mob was getting PO'd with them because they were getting the blame for fire bombings, etc., when they weren't involved at all. It was done to make it look like the Mob was doing it but was the politco's behind the scene action. Kinda amusing when you think about it; the city/county gov't. was so corrupt they were making the Mob look bad.

Now, the FEDS say it is too late to take the DEAD PEOPLE, ILLEGIAL ALIENS, etc off the rolls. Why is it Democrats are always so desperate for votes, that they NEED dead people to vote for them?

I have no problem with it but to me its really only one small part how about not checking ID when you vote considering it a violation of rights They haven't proved either way that this voter purge is working or not working. The other part is actual voting machines themselves can be programed to give the results you want no more paper and manual vote count that if I remember correctly is mandated by law. The last piece is vote counting is actually for some elections is not done in the US either. Another point how come illegals can vote and people worry about there rights when we have a class of citizen that the courts are stopping from voting its the convicted felons that number more than 30 million in this country. I doubt that most couldn't get back on the list if they wanted or just say I don't have any id with me illegals do it all the time

there are plenty of facts to back up the claim of voter fraud, there were two ballot boxes fished out of the frisco bay in 2000. then in '04 there were 4,000 more votes cast in Milwaukee then there are registered voters. you need to read Anita Moncreif's blog, it might open your eyes to the fraudulent behavior of the left. she's a former ACORN employee who decided she had enough of the lies. http://www.anitamoncrief.blogspot.com/

Somethings I'll admit from the left I can nod in agreement, there's a valid argument to them...
But... insisting that any warm body can just wander into a voting booth and vote without having to prove who they are? That's just indefensible...

Maybe we should go back to the good old days when only landowners, no women, slavess, gypsies, and the poor were not allowed to vote. Definately less voter fraud. Progress Sucks

What amazes me is how so many people make judgements about things when they are totally uninformed on an issue. Innuendo, stereotyping, hearsay, and the like do not constitute facts on either side of the issue. How many people in this day and age, make decisions and formulate opinions based on supposition instead of actuality?

Progress Sucks No thats overly strict. I do believe there should to be a minimum knowledge test as well as a photo Id and centralized (not at the polls) votor registration If you are so stupid you think whoever gets the second most votes is the Vice President. And you cant answer some very basic (3rd to 5th grade level maybe) questions about how government works. Maybe a simple fact or two about the primary candidates, then America really doesnt need to consider you an adult fit for voting! Ive seen some interviews of American citizens getting ready to vote that are down right embarrasing. I mean you have to know a ton of stuff to drive, to become a citizen, to get a diploma of any kind......then you can forget everything and become a mental vegitable and think you can roll your couch potato self into a voting place and expect them to register you on the spot because you have your roommates power bill and then vote for the guy you think said hes gonna pay your mortgage. Oh yeah, Im way out of line (to quote a Jay Lenno phrase)

It seems pretty simple to me, too. You should be able to prove who you are to vote, and your legal status to do so. The most straightforward way to accomplish this is with a government-issued photo ID. They are easy to get if you can provide proper documentation. Yet every attempt to implement such measures is challenged by lawsuit. The argument that this is unfair to the poor, mnorities, and the elderly doesn't hold up under scrutiny. You have to provide such proof to legally drive a car. You have to provide such documentation to enter into something as ubiquitous as a cell phone contract, or to work for companies who comply with current employment law. Such measures would level the playing field for both sides, taking away the voter fraud argument from both the right and the left. A reasonable person would conclude that those who object most stringently to these requirements are those who expect to benefit most from voters who can't prove themselves to be US Citiizens or even among the living.

Here Here! I have a goverment ID (ssn), a recognised photo-id (dl), I register at the county of my residence so they have my name on the voter rolls. Why is that so difficult for everyone else? I can do all those things and not own any land. So far, everywhere I have lived, they have offered to auto-enroll me as a voter when I either register a vehicle, or renew my driver's liscense. I personally believe only US citizens should be able to vote, that is not PC , but ask me.....!

If you get a notice you have 30 days to prove you are a US citizen and the problem is? When you renew your drivers license you have to have birth certificate, or passport, plus proof of ss number plus two proofs of residency. I think we should have made Obama prove all this but if you have to do this for you drivers license why couldn't you just send them a copy of that and be done with it whats the big deal. Its really ridiculous we have to go through this bs, but if you are a American citizen you should and drive you should already have all the documentation you need. Seems to me that the only ones that have a problem with this are the problem ones.

This doesn't pertain to Florida, but in Minnesota, voter fraud may have resulted in the Election of Al Franken which tipped the balance of power in the U.S. Senate and in turn gave us Obamacare and the $850 billion bail out. Before you dismiss the problem watch the video: http://www.protectmyvote.com/?page_id=1506

I doubt that most couldn't get back on the list if they wanted or just say I don't have any id with me illegals do it all the time I really don't get all the opposition to having to show ID when voting. Since Connecticut is my legal residence, that is where I vote, and the only place I vote! I own a permanent home in Florida as well, and pay taxes there, but legally, only vote in Connecticut. When I do vote there, the town I live in is small, less than 8,000 folk, and most everyone knows everyone else. I've lived there in the same house for 26 years, been active in the community, and consequently am known well, and know others. But... when I go in to vote, whether local elections, or State issues, or National, MAKES NO DIFFERENCE, I have to show my picture ID (Drivers License) which they (poll workers) compare to the Master List of Registered Voters. I think that this is GREAT! I can't even believe that anyone can find any fault with this policy, unless they have the idea of some shady actions, or shenanigans on their mind. ??? I am so sick and tired of always having to accommodate those, or even explain to the folks on the fringes of legality, why something that is absolutely common sense should be done. All of this cursed "Spin Crap" that accompanies everything is just so tiring. To me it's simple: if it's brown, and smells bad, I don't have to taste it to verify that it is Sh*t!

You all are missing the point, it's a way to deprive legal voters of there right to vote, not to keep illegitimate individual's from voting.

Again, its not about showing ID, or illegal voters voting at all, it's about legal voters being striped of there right to vote, IN AN ELECTION YEAR! and having to fight to get back on the rolls.
