RPM drop from using the 65 size tire

I've got a 65 on my Tourer.  The rpm drop is 2-300.  That's not enough for any noticeable change in mpg.

With the 205/65/16 CT, my RPM @ 75 mph went down from 3500 to 3250. ???

I use a European light truck tire size in 195-65-16 and its for all intents is dead on the same as the stock size.
No noticable changes in any thing revs wise..

You will see a slight increase in mpg, probably not enough to notice though.

By far, the largest component of mpg is drag. Probably 90% or more on our Valkyries.

That is why the gear change kit that used to be available did not work either.

205/65/16 Mich HydroEdge next to a brand new 18/70/16 Avon Cobra.


As you can see the 205/65 car tar is slightly taller. I actually thought that the 205/65 car tar was causing a higher cruise RPM but I was wrong. I bought the '99 Valk with the car tar already installed & it just sounded like it was a bit higher RPM due to the God awful sounding Cobra pipes that were on it. The Avon is on the '99 now & the difference is insignificant.
Remember too that there are variations in actual circumferences in any two same size tires especially from brand to brand.
