For those of you attending Inzane XII,  a special lunch and tour is being planned at the Castle Rogues Manor,  www.castleroguesmanor.com  on Tuesday, July 24th.  Soup, Sandwiches and Tea will be available for $12.00 per person.  This will also include a small tour of the grounds.

I know the owner of the property and he is making this special offer for the Inzane attendees.  We need a minimum of 20 people to make this happen.  This is really a very unique place.  Next week it is being filmed for the HGTV series Home Strange Home.   It is located 7 miles from ground zero.

So, please respond with your vote!!

Thanks.

I'd be interested with my SO.  Probably Squealy and his SO too.

But he can confirm himself.

We two are!  Hoser, you and/or Maggie interested?  Got another couple coming that might be too, but they do not come on the board much.  I think they would be interested.

Wouldn't the right way to do this be to contact the InZane staff with this suggestion?  I know they work very hard to get things coordinated so they don't interfere with each other.  Then someone goes off and throws a monkey wrench in the works.  I think they probably would have been willing to incorporate this in the schedule, if you had asked.

Doesn't seem right to me. In fact it seems a little rude to try and circumvent an event that the staff has been planning for a year. Don't get me wrong the saff is always open to ideas and suggestions to make it the best possible time for everyone. I just think it would be best to use the front door rather than the back at someone elses event.  cooldude

Seems to me the staff is always saying do what you want.  Telling about what is available in the area.  How is this different?  Do we ALL have to do the same thing ALL THE TIME?

This is different because it's attempting to pull a large group of people away from our event with no regard to our schedule.  I agree with Damon, it's just common courtesy to notify the event coordinators who have spent a year coordinating things, before possibly undermining something that's already going on.

Yes, maybe this in just one thing, but what if eveyone started doing this?  Why would we (the VRCC) even bother to prepare a Schedule of Events?  We try to carefully plan things so that events with group pricing, or that many people may want to attend, don't conflict with one another.  As it is, State Reps will be excluded from going to this Castle Rogue thingy, or worse yet, they will choose to go there and we are left holding the bag for an event we already paid for.

One note to the VRCC organizers and we could have put this on our Schedule of Events, hell more people would know about it since it would be on the schedule.  I would have been stoked to put this on our schedule.  Hell, I would have liked to go, but I'll be at the State Rep Luncheon.

I looked at the schedule of events before I committed. I am not a state rep. and there is no other event scheduled at this time. If I was a state rep., or invited to, the state rep luncheon then I would have not committed to this. There is two tech sessions with Daniel, thank you Sir for your efforts, but I don't think this will take from those either. I figured it would fall in between them. It indeed states right off the bat on the schedule "All day self guided rides". I truly appreciate all the efforts made by the staff in getting InZane put together and the work that goes into it. I volunteer, show up early to help, and do what I can to help out. Maybe trying to get this worked out ahead of time with staff would have been a better deal, or at least touching base with them. I took it as an opportunity that just came available if there was interest. Sounded to me like Gordo was just trying to get an idea if this was something people would be interested in so he could get something set up if there was interest. I don't see this as any different than setting up an imprompt ride to the highest peak, scenic roads, etc. and being gone all day doing that. Seven miles for lunch and a tour doesn't sound like an all day deal to me. Unless there is something else going on behind the scenes that no one is aware of I don't see the issue. I for one have never been in this neck of the woods and appeciate the ideas of others who have knowledge to share the local sights, or recommendations.

Just to be sure Thank You Staff for your efforts and time in putting InZane together you do an outstanding job!

Wow....not sure what to say......Thanks for the few that have chimed in.

I'm in no way trying to pull a large group away from anything.  Nor am I trying to "undermind" something else.   This idea was just presented to me a few days ago.  That is why I did a poll to determine interest.  I didn't see it as a conflict.  Rather, as an addition or option for people to do.

I did look at the schedule, and I did have regard for it.  Monday or Tuesday were the days available.  Monday a lunch was planned.  Tuesday seemed to be open for all others besides "state reps".

I truly felt this would be adding to the event....Not taking away from it.

I'ts good your not a State Rep so you can go. I'm kinda a state rep, sorta.

Not to sound like a whining kid (I was going to use another word for kid) but any option I or the state reps had of going has been eliminated.

I'm sorry. but I think it unkind to punish one group because they stepped up to help the VRCC by being State Reps - Take pictures for us

Well, since it doesn't matter now if I let cat out of the bag... this was on the very short list of places for the Lunch Ride with the Staff.  We were going to take a slightly longer route to get there and go in from the west, across the bridge.  I will be in Arkansas Wed-Fri and planned on checking it out then.  I left a message for the group coordinator to call me.  I was really looking forward to making this happen... oh well.

Gordorad;
I know you had good intentions. When the idea was presented to you a few days ago why not contact VRCC staff and see if we could integrate it, why go rogue (get it, rogue...haha). As it turns out you might have been able to help F6Gal coordinate the Lunch Ride with the VRCC Staff Ride on Monday.

Just saying.

Sounds to me like the option is still available for the staff ride, maybe Gordo can help make it happen with his connections! I don't care what day, or who sets it up. I would like to see it, lunch or not. InZane is suppose to be a fun time of fellowship, riding, meeting new people, and seeing new places. Petty bickering over trivial things can ruin it for everyone real quick. I don't like excluding anyone from anything and I don't think anyone was trying to do that. That being said, I will be at InZane with a smile on my face happy to see many people I get to see once a year. I do think the castle would a great staff lunch ride and I hope that works out so everyone can attend.

I had voted "you betcha", and then scrolled down and saw the comments by the admins. While I also very much appreciate all of the efforts that have gone, and will go into making this InZane a success, I feel that the admonishment to coordinate this through the admins was a bit harsh. Sorry, just my two cents worth. What's the difference between this and a group going on a self guided ride to the dunes up in Michigan or some other place we went? I tend to do "my own things" anyways instead of doing things in lockstep.

Between my flying to FL, the S.O. flying to AR, my riding from FL to AR and back, rooms, etc., the S.O. and I are using this InZane as the basis of a quite costly vacation that we are looking forward to very much. Hell, if it as hot there as it is predicted to be, I may have trouble getting the S.O. to ride anything other than one of the trolleys, or an A/C cab.  Embarrassed  This Castle, along with a lot of the "Arts" related things in the area is exactly what attracted, us as a couple, to attend InZane.

Bottom line is, I'd like to go to the castle, two of us, no matter who, or how it is organized. So..., once you all figure it out, I don't care who is in charge, put us down for two. Thanks Gordorad for scouting this out.  cooldude

Seems like a "self guided tour" to me.   How would canceling, or never even bringing the subject up, help the state reps go?  If this had never been brought up, the state reps would not be going.  Seems to me self guided tours are going on all the time, in conflict with other events.

Are you saying noone is to do anything else while any event is scheduled?

Would me and 6 riding buddies going to Dairy Queen at 10 AM have to be cancelled, because Daniel has a tech session at the same time, and people going to that would not be able to go to DQ?

Just seems like a non issue to me.  The only conflict is with a few, a very few considering probably 400 attendees, state reps.

Looking forward to Inzane, however the issue is resolved.  Thank you staff for all your planning and hard work.

Thanks Gordo for lining this up! cooldude

There is one other castle in the area that we have been planning to ride to see.....We brought the information to the staff several months ago, but haven't seen anything about it.....So.... It will just be one of our day rides....sans staff approval.  coolsmiley

Look, the castle is a great idea!  No one on the staff is admonishing Gordo.  And no one is telling anyone not to go.  oZ was merely saying a heads up would have been nice, especially in light of the group pricing.

I was bummed when I saw the post, because I was planning to check it for Monday.  Damon is not VRCC staff, but he knew of my plans, which is probably what prompted his post (I may have been whining).  oZ also knew, which probably prompted his post (I may have been whining to him, too).

I'm sorry, but I don't see why letting the staff in on this great opportunity would have been a bad idea.  Adding it to our schedule would have made it more successful for all concerned (and avoided all these hard feelings); also states reps and staff would have been able to attend on Monday.

HG, I'm sorry, but I never saw a suggestion from you.  I certainly would have entertained the idea or at least let you know why not.  (Oh, and where is this other castle... I'm looking for a Monday lunch ride... *wink*)

Hey Flamingo Babe... Sorry to be the bearer of yet another controversial post.  But I just spoke with a friend who lives nearby and was informed that the  "Castle" in question is closed.  Not functioning at the present time, as their funding was depleted.

Their website has not been updated in over a year, and the phone number listed is out of service.

Too bad as it looked pretty cool!

Hey, things like that are what I seek out.  Defunct, closed, etc.  I've no idea if you can access the sight, but if you happen to be in that area, it would be worth "checking out".   Still might be to "new" to be interesting.

There is a place just outside of Eureka Springs on 187N called Dinosaur World.  It has been closed for years, but it is still "accessible".  Just depends on how adventurous one is.  (a few signs on the premises discourage visitors)..... Lots of trails, and lots of giant cement dinosaurs, etc....all overgrown.

Connie, if you and Gordo's contact can work this out for the Staff Lunch on Monday I don't think anyone really cares what day it happens, we just want it to happen. I understood Tuesday was chosen as just the Rep luncheon was happening. If I understood Gordo right nothing is in stone yet, it is still a possiblity for Monday. The most they, the Castle, can say is no it has to be Tuesday, because of our schedule. Let's check and see.
