We rode yesterday in 107 temp's one of the worse rides I've ever been on . If it's going to be triple-digit the entire event I might just pass on going...I can't handle that s**t and I'm not wasting my vacation days to be miserable .

The weather that far out is hard to tell. The Farmers Almanac is probably as acurate as the 'weather guessers'. The link shows average, and record highs and lows for Eureka Springs for July..... But then again.... it is the weather... so take your best guess. http://www.weather.com/weather/monthly/USAR0183

Well, we've kinda got some money spent already on going so me and Jodi are gonna be there. My vacation has been scheduled for quite a long time, I'm not backing out of it now. Of course it's gonna be hot...the end of July has been known to be like that a time or two. I think it's because of AlGore and his global warming bs. Either that, or being summer might be part of it too.
I take the other half of my vacation in late Jan/early Feb to go ride sleds with family. Oddly enough, it has a tendency to be cold then. Might be cause it's winter, I don't know. But I know that going in. Sometimes it's really cursed cold but it's WAYYYY better than being at work.
Some of you guys might be worrying too much in advance...the weathermen around here cant tell me what the hell the weather is gonna be like tomorrow accurately. 20 days out is, well, guessing.

That's one reason I won't be there. As soon as the location was announced I knew I wasn't going. The heat and humidity is unbearable in Iowa in July.....can't imagine that much farther south.

Yesterday's ride is still very fresh in my mind and body as for the money I was 200 miles from home yesterday in that furnace and would have gladly paid what I've got tied up in registration fees to be home and off that hot ass motorcycle.

Well, it probably won't be any worse than being at a steel mill, required to wear long sleeves and long pants and a hard hat while throwing tarps over whatever load I'm picking up in this heat. At least I'll be on the bike with lakes and pools within riding distance. When I'm at work all I can think about is the fact that my pool is nowhere near where I am.

Joe.. You can do it!!!!! Ya just need to dress for it. Ya have to protect yourself from the heat. There was a thread running about this the otherday. see link http://www.valkyrieforum.com/bbs/index.php/topic,44220.0.html The ride to Arkansas will probably be one of the cooler legs of our trip. We leave Ar and head to the desert southwest then up to the pacific northwest....should be cooler there... into Canada, down thru the rockies.. At that point FB will have all lower 48 states on her Spyder.... . Then to eastern Tn For a Spyder BBQ, Va, then home.... You can do it....

I still haven't committed. As usual, it will be a last minute, wow, I am walking out the door and going thing.
If I do go, it will prob be just for a couple of days. Figure on riding the 400+ miles with an early start in the morning.
Noticed today I need to put rear pads on the Valk. Will end up going ahead and doing the rear-end maintenance while I am there.
I have started abhoring the heat. I usually am outside in it, but I go inside as soon as I can. I am sure it has nothing to do with my thick layer of insulation my body has determined that I need.
If I do go, I will be the one sitting in the chair drinking "colbeer" and smoking a cigar.

Alot of people (especially as they age) can't really tolorate the heat as well as they once could......I know I can't. I don't ride all that much in the summer because of it......the heat coupled with the humidity can be unbearable around here during the summer months.
Add to that a "hot ass" motorcyle and riding when temps are in the 90's and above with 80% to 100% RH, it can make riding difficult for folks that are in their 50's, 60's and beyond.
With that said, I've never been to an Inzane, but I'd love to go to one.......but I'm not too interested in riding to one in the heat of summer.
Would it be possible for the Inzane event be scheduled during some cooler months of the year......or has this been discussed and ruled out before? If so, why was it ruled out?

Eureka Springs has enough altitude to cool down at night, usually does not get really hot till mid afternoon, I would compare it to central Tennessee, just a bit more humidity. It is not nearly as hot as KS, IA, and northern MO. The roads are great. I noticed the temp in the low seventies in the evening on those forecast, hasn't been below 80 at night here, or below 100 in the daytime, for nearly two weeks. Still riding, including to SD and back last week. What ya gonna do, not ride? Ain't happening for me. BTW, I'll be 66 by IZ. Hoser

I'm 56, have COPD real bad. I have a VERY hard time trying to breath with the high temps and high humidity. I have suggested many times in the past about having InZane in the spring or fall but that idea kept getting shot down with excuses as to why it is when it is.

I understand the health issue, It is nicer when it is held north this time of year. Black hills are nice in the summer. IZ in Colorado was great, like to froze to death when I went over Loveland pass in a T shirt! Hoser

Average heat graph for San Dimas CA (were I live)... These temperatures run from Ventura down to San Diego with little difference. Get a little north toward San Francisco and the averages are a lot cooler. I wear a jacket going up Pacific Coast Hwy in August. Also move east away from the Pacific and the temperatures do rise a lot except when you cross the Sierras where you can see snow in August at altitude! That said I'd rather ride through the Mojave desert at 105 than any of the places I've been in the east as humidity kicks my A$$. I rode through Reseda, CA a few years ago at 114 degrees and it had nothing on Puduca Kentucky. I just stopped, soaked my cloths and was on my way cause with no humidity water actually evaporates and cools me by 15 to 17 degrees. I'm telling you them states back east are tough states, my first time to Ohio kicked my A$$ and I couldn't believe the same place so hot in July could get snow in February. So let me see, colder in the winter, hotter in the summer, huge storms, hurricanes, twisters... I'll stick with the earthquakes. Some people say we have no seasons in California, but we do, our four season's in California, Earthquake, Fires, riots and mudslides! I'd love to have a rally in California, you'all are just too far away to make it happen! I love the idea of having an InZane Rally in the spring or fall whoever tossed that idea in the mix.

I ordered 4 ride cool vests last week.
I am planning to take 3-4 gel packs that I'll put in the ice cooler at each gas stop.
That's the plan anyway...

I may not venture out of ground zero except to go back to my own room but, I'll be there assuming the crick don't rise and the lord's willing. Temps won't stop me from meeting folks I've been wanting to meet and shake hands with for quite a while. BTW, I'll be the guy on that great looking 02 Valk, should be easy to spot. It'll be the only one there with KY tags (at least it looks like that now).

I don't like the heat either but I think you'll find the riding worth it. Get up early and get a ride in each day and be back to cool off in the pool in the afternoon when it gets hot. They have a really nice pool at ground zero, and there are plenty of big trees for shade. I can't wait to see everyone! -Scott

Gale, You are so right about Paducah KY. That heat and humidity was miserable. I still use that as my benchmark for hot, just a few days ago when it was 100 degrees here I said D@mn, this is PADUCAH hot!

Ron, That's not a pretty sight at all. Clearly if you are going for the female scenery, well ..... We'll leave early in the morning and stay in the higher elevations. Plenty of water althrough that area.

Charlie, Sounds like a plan, we'll see what happens. I'll assume Jabba was simply speculating.

I'll assume Jabba was simply speculating. I have not seen Charlie in a bikini. But I have met Charlie, and I can say with CERTAINTY, I do not WANT to either. Not like... I'd be a vision in any sort of bikini anything either. Jabba

There are certain attire that large men shouldn't wear. If it was abikini then I would the founder of the "VRCC Chunkendales". Just not going to happen.
