I love shooting the 45ACP. The recoil is enough to be fun but not painful like the 357 can be after a while.
Shooting it from a 1911 feels like I'm holding history in my hand even though I don't own a single stack 1911, yet.

I was shooting with Andy the other day, I had the 1911 and he had his Hi-Power in 9mm. The 45 was throwing huge chunks of dirt into the air behind the target. He looked over at me and said "what the hell, are you shooting mortars?" Man, you gotta love that.

As far as reloading, 45ACP brass lasts forever but even when you cast your own bullets, that's a big chunk of lead and it depletes your wheel weight stocks quickly. Hence I'm shooting 22LR more than I used to.
