... talking about hitches.

BACKGROUND:
I am planning a long trek and want to tow my spacious "Piggy-Back" trailer with my new I/S. Wink
I have one of those fancy-looking chrome ones on my standard. Smiley

However, I have seen "hidden hitches" on many Interstates and I wonder, is it because the hidden type is easier to install or
is it because they are less expensive?   ???

The only "hidden hitches" I have ever seen install exactly like the one on your standard. I don't know of anyone who still makes one for the Valk except for Hitch Doc. F6 customs does when he gets a run large enough, but, who knows when that will be. And his installs the same as the hitch doc. cooldude

Believe all install the same with the 2 fender bolts. May have been a few 1 offs that are different, but the 2 fender bolts are the best way to carry any weight......

All can be a bitch to install single handedly.  Grow a 3rd and 4th hand prior to attempting installation.  (or get a helper)

the only difference is the receiver part of the hitch is tucked up inside the fender behind the tire at an angle.

I just checked the I/S saddlebag mounts with the lid off. I can now clearly see the nuts and bolts to be removed in order to take off the saddlebags.  ???

I installed Tourer-saddlebag-hardware on my Standard. It looks as if the removal procedure would be the same on the I/S... perhaps a few more bolts and screws to remove. laugh

As for the hitch, I have decided to take off the one on my Standard and install it on the I/S... Undecided
Oops ... I forgot about the hitch's wiring..! Roll Eyes
