Hi all, I have noticed over the last few years that when the engine is quite hot (coolant temperature 200°F+) and the clutch lever is within 1/2" of the hand grip, there is a loud bearing type of noise coming from the transmission area. Because this problem is intermittent depending on heat, I have ignored it, but I would like to know if it is a concern and which part needs attention. I've included these drawings for you to refer to, if needed.

I'm sure both of you have come to some kind of an explanation for the noise!
Why don't you share?

My question wasn't a trick question designed to find out if anyone else had solved this, and thus was as clever as me. Unless anyone else says that the noise is a predictor of _____ disintegrating, I'm not going to tear into it just out of curiosity.

That's good to know; thanks, Chrisj. I also run synthetic oil (currently Mobil 1 15W50).

I don't feel the pic you put up GR, was unintentional and I also feel it is the correct one.
There have been a lot of threads which have reported about the "noisy" pin in the clutch slave cylinder.
Maybe it just seeing the same postings repeated over and over again, regardless, I am inclined to hold the same view even though I have yet to experience anything (even remotely) related to that pin.

I've read lots about various clutch-related noises, but none in the same circumstances. That pin is part # 14. I've heard of people removing the slave cylinder and cleaning/lubing the pin. Easy if on a lift.

The instructor told me go cool of your bike. This happened at the beginning of the class 2 years ago. Haven't had any problems since. At least I know what it sound like when it gets to hot.
