Does this change the gear ratio and what does it do to highway cruising RPM, and fuel mileage?

Unless something prevents me from working on the Valkyrie this weekend, I'm
going to put the original final drive back on it. I don't know what the other one
looks like, it was good last tire change, I just want to find out if these refurbished
ones are any good.

I have been unable to get the pinion cup off one of the ones I refurbished. I took it to
Frank at the NAPA place today, and he zipped it off with his impact wrench. We
talked some about why I couldn't get it off with my impact wrench... his is rated
at 150lbs line pressure, mine is rated at 90, so I set the compressor line pressure
at 90... perhaps that's all it was.

Book sez 80ft/lbs is how much to tighten them back on, so that's how I'm doing it.

Yeah... 80 ft lbs.....  There is always the danger of stretching steel and weakening threads when applying unknown forces from an unregulated impact tool,, not a good idea if it can be avoided.

Gonna have to try this one myself soon ..

Question - which way do you press out the spline hub from the rin gear, or will it only come out one way ?

Thxs ..

It only comes apart and goes back together one way,, just have some aluminum blocks handy so you don't damage any of the parts with steel to steel contact.
